I hope this hasn't been asked a dozen times, but I have gone back trying to find the answer, but I'm still a bit confused.

I have read that you have to put all personal items in a locker when you go on an attraction...is this true? :confused3 Or is it just for certain ones? Are there plenty of lockers? and do you just put your stuff in while you're on one attraction and then get it and go to the next one and get another locker? :confused3

Any help clearing this up for me would be great. I have thought about getting cargo pants just to have big pockets, so I don't have to worry about lockers. I usually have a fanny pack for WDW and have never had a problem riding on the attactions with it on....I guess US is different...

Thanks for your help!

Hello SR! Yes...Universal is different about taking stuff on rides than Disney. I always wear cargo shorts and never use a locker...that's the best bet if you can do it.

The lockers are free for 60 mins (I think) but you can pay if you want to leave your stuff in there longer. Otherwise, just put your stuff in the locker at the ride..then remove and get another locker at the next ride. It's a little annoying but not really a big deal.

All of the "bigger" rides have free lockers. Attractions like MIB, ROTM, Hulk and DD all have free lockers right near the entrance or exit of the ride. They're really easy to use and...did I mention...free!

I would recommend wearing cargo shorts and be done with it.

Yes, those attractions that REQUIRE lockers are free for an hour or more. (Depends on the guests coming in that day.)

Also, please don't try to get on with bags or hide them. The Team Members working these attractions are trained to scan for bags, and they will find them. If you do reach the loading area with a bag, you will be considered a non-rider, and will be sent back down to put your things in a locker.

Attractions that require lockers:
Hulk
Dragons
Mummy
MIB

Also, lines such as "it's not a bag, it's a purse" will only get you sent to the lockers faster. Follow the locker directions, GENTLY press your finger on the scanner, and remember your locker number.

i've seen many peeps get on w/ fannybags.... i heard a TM say, "as long as it's attached around your waist..." ...of course, this was on MIB, not as big a deal as Mummy and some of the 'coasters'

do the cargo thing!

Thanks for clearing that up for me...So it is only the 4 listed that I would have to worry about.:)

That makes more sense than not being about to take anything of "All" the rides.:)

Thanks again....

We're also first timers going down in August. My DH carries around our digital SLR camera in a backpack style bag. From what you've said, we'll have to check the bag at these certain rides because it cannot be brought on, correct? Of course, since I doubt that I'll be riding Mummy (our younger son doesn't meet the height requirement) I'll probably be holding it. But we all might ride MIB. The lockers are easily accessible and lock securely, correct? And we won't have to go too far from the ride exit to get our bag out when we're done, is that also correct?

yep...you have to check at Mummy, MIB, Hulk & DD

the lockers for MIB are next to the gift shop you exit the ride thru (make right outta shop). the lockers are secure, they use fingerprint scan to open them. you scan your finger (or thumb as it says, but we always use finger) and it will read your print and assign and unlock a locker for you. stow your stuff, PUSH THE BUTTON TO LOCK IT, and go have fun. Once you get back, you have to go to same area (area 1, 2, 3, etc...they're marked) to have your fingerprint scanned to have it unlock. They are safe, and after the first time, easy to use.....

I just got back from my first time and was a little confused when I heard about this but the lockers really were easy to use. We had to do it on MIB and Mummy. One suggetion I would give you is I noticed that the middle rows were much more crowded than the side rows so try and go to the side.
I also noticed that the line for MIB ( which was a blast) is very disorganized for some reason, the regular and express lines are right next to each other and there is this mosh of people half of them trying to go one with bags and being redirected and the other half trying to go on express without passes and being redirected.

how was your trip JMCDAD? i remember you asking a lot of questions in preparation of your trip...... got any pix to share?? we'll be lookin' for your Trip Report on the TR board :rolleyes1 ;)

It was great Bubba'smom, thanks for asking
we had an unbelievable time, and I can't wait to go back
I actually started a trip report today, you can check it out. (I still do have to get my pics together though.) its short and sweet and not as good as yours as I feel like I am forgetting stuff, but I wanted to make sure I wrote one as I really enjoyed reading them all and all the helpful tips on this board.
