Just made a fool of myself. I'm in work at the mo, a gent walks in and I go to 'meet and greet' (I work in a travel agency) he asks for a specific brochure for which he has vouchers - we haven't got it in stock so I offer to order him a copy, he then proceeds to tell me that he has to go with that particular company 'cos his daughter gave him the vouchers for christmas and she died last week of cancer so him and his wife feel they should go to celebrate her life at this particular hotel. He looked up at me to see me with tears pouring down my face, I felt such a fool, I tried to laugh to hide my embarrassment and I didn't want to embarrass him and I ended up doing that great big snotty snorty thing!

That's not being a fool, I think it's a completely natural reaction to such a moving story.

You're not a fool at all Carol - an emotional wreck maybe, but not a fool ;)

Just kidding, there is nothing wrong with being moved by a sad story. I think I would probably have been the same.

That's such a touching and sad story, I'm not surprised it upset you. It shows you are a human with a big heart, I'm sure they were both touched by your reaction. Imagine a big hug smilie here because my extra smilie thing won't open : (

Carol, I would have been exactly the same, thats very moving :grouphug:

Sue :wave2:

Am not sure of you read much Carol, but 'PS I Love You' by Cecilia Ahern has a tale very much along these lines, I was in tears for most of it :sad1:

Carol that is exactly what I would have done. I was on the phone before Christmas to one of our clients whose son is the same age as mine and had suffered menengitis. I was sobbing. It shows you are human and that you have emotion

Carol ~ Don't think you made a fool of yourself at all. It's nice to see people being emotional in the moment for and with people they don't even know,

It just showed you were interested and that you actually listened! I'd have been a mess!

RE 'PS I Love You' by Cecilia Ahern - I cried too (buckets!) but it was a wonderful read. Finished her new one last night. It was great but rated only 1 sniffle!

I am so emotional that I am crying reading your post. I would have done the exact same thing.

Susan

I would have done the same thing too, sad stories or acts of kindness and I'm a blubbering reck

It just shows what a lovely big heart you have! :grouphug:

Carol, better to be human and real rather than supposedly more professional and wooden.
It's the human and real in my team who do well :)

AW! thanks guys, I did feel such a prat! I'm known amongst my friends as the 'hard' one, its a case of having to be - being on my own means I have to just get on with things, its totally unlike me to be so emotional, I guess thats why I like WDW so much, it 'allows' me to get in touch with my feelings. thanks for allowing me to whinge!

Carol, my dad died of cancer in November and I am crying reading your post. Like others have said above, it shows you are human and genuinely caring. :grouphug:
