I did online check in with my agent, got the 1045 PAT, I was so excited since I was a first time cruiser. I logged onto web site to add some info and I see a 215 PAT...WHAT? I am at work and cant call so I emailed my TA who is calling right now. Anyone experience this?

Just show up at 10:45. You may not board first, but I've never seen anyone told to leave the port or wait outside any longer than usual just because of some random PAT.

I am taking disney transportation to the port from the hyatt. I understand they will let me in as soon as I arrive but I cant board until my port arrival time, that could be a few hours of waiting.

When you arrive the port they will receive a boarding number. As soon as they start boarding they will start with number 1, 2 and so forth. Within probably 45 minutes, everyone in the terminal area is on board and it is considered open boarded, meaning they can pretty much arrive and get on board. No way with a boarding time 2:15 will you be sitting in the terminal after 1pm.

The hard part will be watching everybody board before me knowing i HAD a 1045 boarding. I think its open after to change my PAT but thats still later than I got. I stayed up late on a work night to get that PAT, just a bummer if it really did get changed.

People worry too much about being "first" on board. We typically cruise Concierge and we don't even head to the port until 11:30 - noon half the time even though we have first-on privileges. We've gotten there "late" intentionally when not Concierge too, even though we had a 10:45 PAT. Let the hoards invade and then take your time getting on board. It's much more relaxing than standing in a line. We're planning on leaving Orlando about 11:30 for our October cruise just so we can avoid the mob that stands in line to get in, stands in line to check in, stands in line to board and stands in line in Cabanas for food.

thats great advice. I am competitive by nature so I guess I thought the earlier the better especially since its only 4 days I wanted to make the most of it. Youre right I think I would rather have less stress, walk right on and enjoy one hour less than everyone else as long as its relaxing. What time is the buffet till? I would hate to miss the crab claws? As long as I dont miss it I think I will take your advice.

You'll never miss the crab claws. They have so much of them it's ridiculous. I believe the buffet runs until shortly before muster. It may end at 2:30. I don't pay much attention to it, so I could be wrong.

Just to make sure you understand correctly. You had a 10:45 port arrival time, not a 10:45 boarding time. No one boards until something like 11AM at the earliest. Even those with concierge or a 10:30 port arrival time won't be boarding that early.

oops, newbie mistake, yes a 1045 port arrival time, didnt realize I said that lol

kind of a bummer, turns out somehow my PAT wasnt saved, I did go in the next day to make sure everything was up to par. I saw it there! I had to go choose another PAT, now I have 1130am. well not the end of the world just the fact that I stayed up so late just to get that early PAT to find out I somehow lost it. thanks for all the support guys.

Just keep checking. Sometimes people cancel their cruise, or change their PAT.

I wonder if there's a confirm or save button that wasn't working or that you missed? Didn't someone say they've changed the registration interface recently? It'd be good to know if that's something a person needs to keep checking, in case there's a glitch.

thank you. This trip im trying to take a "roll with the punches" attitude. I will keep an eye out but try not to obsess. Maybe a more relaxed morning will be good for us.

My agent asked to see my confirmation email and I told her I never got one. When she called they told her that my check in was incomplete from March 23! They told her I needed to go in and complete my online check in. I finally got a congratulations screen and an email.

It's much more relaxing than standing in a line

Putting up with a line while boarding can and does prevent other lines once on board. It just changes where, when and what you're waiting for. Embarkation day can be a great day for some things you know you want to do while others are boarding, ship exploring and signing up for mixology, meet & greets, etc etc etc.

It doesnt mean it has to be stressful and like with WDW arriving early allows for flexibility.

Obviously your idea of relaxation and my idea are different. Lines, to me, are the antithesis of relaxing. The last thing I want to do is stand nose-to-rump with the cattle in front of me.

My first cruise I was hell-bent on getting the earliest PAT I could get (well, due to car rental drop-off issues, we missed our 10:45 time). Not knowing what to expect, lines everywhere (to check in, sign the kids up for the kids club, buffet, etc) was SO stressful. We decided that wasn't how we wanted to start our relaxing cruise. We are happy showing up around 1:00 when we can walk on without lines, head to the cabin and put our carry-ons away, and head to the buffet without to much of a wait. My kids are ok not getting to the aqueduct first thing (we learned real fast that the water is NOT heated on that thing and it's just a little chilly). But totally understand how frustrating it is to stay-up late on on a work night to have something not go through. You should have a good time, regardless of what time you get there :-)

I think that you just don't have the same needs for certain lines that others might. After all, LSU said...

Since you tend to book concierge, but STILL get there late for that, and you only mention buffet and getting in and onboard. If you needed to get a kid signed in, needed to get dining changed, needed to get princess tickets, etc etc etc, then maybe what LSU is saying would make sense? That standing in line early to get onboard gets you to those lines faster which means less time in those lines.

We are "get onboard as early as possible" people. It would drive me nuts sitting around waiting at the hotel or whatever knowing I could be on the ship. On all of our DCL cruises so far I have been online at midnight signing in for that early PAT.
