Ahhhh - I'm home alone and completely enjoying it! DH is away at a business meeting and won't be home until tomorrow afternoon. I had cookie dough for dinner (I'll have to run extra tomorrow but it was worth it tonight!) then I scrapbooked and left my mess all over the study. Next I'm going to sit in the bathtub for about a hour and then I'm going to snuggle down in the bed - in the MIDDLE with ALL the pillows and watch Chicago and then Pirates of the Caribbean and then I'm going to go to sleep and take up the whole bed and NOT listen to the Braves game on the radio!:p It's not that I couldn't do that stuff if he was home, but it's more fun this way for some reason. Especially the cookie dough thing. That's one of my "secret single behaviors" for all you Sex and the City fans that DH thinks is gross! Plus, the best is that I'll really miss him and be sooooo excited to see him tomorrow and snuggle up next to him tomorrow night!

ahhh, my husband is also away. He left yesterday and will not return until Sunday morning. He's at a video editing seminar, a little hobby of his that he rarely gets to indulge in. I miss him terribly, of course. But, last night after I got the kidlets to bed, I ate pierogies with sauteed onions for dinner, on the couch. :) THEN, I ate ice cream in bed while watching survivor. I had to walk an extra mile this morning too, but it was nice.

Tonight, get this, I'm having LOBSTER and SCALLOPS. My husband HATES seafood so I am indulging myself. :D

My DH works a 24 hour shift at his family's business every other weekend. I do miss him, and so do our sons, but there is just something about being at home without him! I stretch out into "his side" of the bed, I rent movies (he hates watching movies), I order Chinese food, which he does not like. He'll be working tomorrow, anybody have any good DVD rental suggestions?

LOL! This is a great topic! Maybe my DH doesn't spend enough time away from home. Tonight he went to a football game with a friend so I've been sitting here thinking "ok, now what do I do?" You've all inspired me to put the kids to bed early, eat some of my favorite junk food and relax on the couch in front of the TV the rest of the evening. Thanks! :teeth:

I love my DH dearly, but I also love when he's away. Cookie dough is my dinner of choice and I love watching and crying at the chick flicks without him rolling his eyes or teasing me. But, then of course when he's back home, all is well. It's just nice to have a "wife vacation" every once in a while

Tonyswife - yum! You've make me hungry again! My DH doesn't like seafood either. but I love it - especially scallops! I considered making crab cakes, but the kitchen was clean so I decided on just cookie dough!

I'm also thinking about getting out my NKOTB and Guns N Roses (what a combination, I know) cd's and playing them at full blast!;)

I feel like Eloise with a whole list of "naughty" things to do.

What I like to do is . . .

Order take out from somewhere, no mess. :D

I'm tellin' ya, if my husband traveled often, I'd weigh 300 pounds. He does not, so I do not, thank goodness. :D

I love it when DH switches to nights, I get to control the tv, he loves crime shows, I don't.

I love to hear that wives get breaks once in awhile :)

I can't help but think how lucky you all are, you know when your DH's are coming home! Some time away from DH is good, but mine is gone to Kuwait for a year! Between my DS's homework, football, CCD and Cub Scouts I don't have much free time - then the free time becomes time for yard work, and all the other chores the DH ususally does.

We all sure miss him! Enjoy your free time and eat some cookie dough for me!

:(

aww, if I lived near you, I would babysit and send you to a spa for the day. I hope your husband comes home soon and safe.

Love,
Jen

Good for you. I enjoy reading that people pamper themselves and make the most of darling other's absences. Just as an aside, I have to tell you I worry about raw cookie dough. You see, the egg could contain salmonella. Hope I'm not a party pooper, but that is why I don't include a raw egg (actually coddled) in my home-made caesar salad dressing. I miss it, too.

DH has been gone since Tuesday and won't be home until next Friday and boy have I slept good at night even with Ivan roaring in the background. I too enjoy watching whatever I want, eatting junk food and reading without being interupted with a what's for dinner or could you bring me...

And I am not near as messy either.

I wish I could help you with yard work and you could take a long bath! I don't think I could help with the football ;) but I'm a teacher, so I might could handle some of the homework (well, none involving math or chemical equations - blech!:scared1: )

My mom fusses at me all the time about eating raw cookie dough because of the raw eggs!

Tonyswife -

Thanks for making me smile! We moved across the country 10 days before DH left - I need to make some new friends!!:wave2:

I'm glad to hear that I'm not the only "closet single" on the DIS! LOL!

When I'm home alone during the day, I put all the TV's on the same channel, all over the hous, and watch TV all day long while I work from room to room to room.

If he is gone for 4-5 days, he usually comes home to a freshly painted room or the furniture in a different spot. (I will admitt, however, that I usually do these things out to shake me out of a pity party for not being able to go with him.)

My strangest behavior when I'm solo is to get out my good china and set a classy table in front of the TV for a late night dinner. My fav dinner is Shrimp Fettucinni. I used a frozen fettucini dinner, add sauteed shrimp, fresh mushrooms, & fresh aspargus, and a touch of sour cream. It's quick, easy, and I love it.

I will say, however, that I enjoy solitude. Not everybody does but I do. On normal days, I require an hour or so a day to keep my sanity. I usually get it after everybody goes to bed and while I'm DISsing.

Nice thread!

Ooohh - I do this too! In fact, any time I drink wine or champagne I drink out of our nice crystal. DH will be sitting on the porch with a beer and I'll have a glass of $8 a bottle wine in a $50 crystal glass! Why have it if you're not going to use it?

edited to add - One of my favorite things to do when I'm alone is to get Kiwi Strawberry Diet Rite ( I think that's what it is) and frozen raspberries. I pour the Diet Rite in a champagne glass and put the frozen raspberries in the bottom - they act like ice cubes and make it taste soooooo good! I'll take that up with me when I soak in the bathtub. We used to make that drink during my sorority rush and all the rushees thought it was something so grand and I always giggled knowing it was essentially diet soda and frozen fruit!

All of my boys are gone for the weekwend... DH and both DS's to a boy Scout thing... so i had dinner with one of my girl friends from work and then breakfast with another one in the am.. then.. I am gonna come home and clean and do laundry !.. so wonderful to have a chance to talk with friends from high school and enjoy their company...

hehe I'm so jealous !!!! I would love to have the house to myself for a night !!! I would probably do just what you're doing !!
Enjoy !!!!!!
