Illunimations FP or Ride FP

With 6 year olds, is it better to schedule an Illuminations FP, or should we use our FP on the rides

There is so much room to watch Illuminations; don't waste a FP. Stake out a spit 30-40 min early and you'll be more than good!

My kids got tired about 45 minutes before Illuminations so we went and sat down right next to the sectioned off FP+ area until they started. No big deal We had a good spot, I do recommend that area but unless you think you will be busy up until it starts (dinner reservations?) I wouldn't use a FP on it, especially since I believe it is tier 1 and you only get one tier 1 choice and the tier 2 choices are pretty pointless unless you are going at a busy time.
