It is crowded, but we found that trying to find a spot less than 15-20 minutes before 9:00 that wasn't blocked by trees or people was close to impossible. Being able to duck into the FP viewing area at the last minute was worth it for us!

I usually go over the holidays and have never had a hard time finding a spot to watch illuminations. Now the main areas that fill up quickly are by the exits (near International Gateway and the exit to Future World). The farther you go away from the exits out of the parks, the easier it is to find a great spot to watch.

Now that's a nice tidbit of information!

This past trip over Christmas, I got 2 free pretzels out of the 3 times are saw Illuminations. The closer you stand to the cart across from Werther's, the higher the likelihood of getting a pretzel. Hope the tip helps next time! Also, they start handing out pretzels around 10 minutes before the show.

Of the hundreds and hundreds of times I've been at or near the FP viewing area, the number of times that the smoke has been an issue is infinitesimal.
