I am wondering about booking ADR at the Rose and Crown to possibly see the Illuminations show from the patio. What time would I want to book the reservation for so as we can be in the restaurant for the show? Is it hard to get on the patio? :confused3

We were seated on the patio back in 2006. I think our ADR was for around7.30pm. I did not ask to be seated on the patio - although I really wanted to get a table out there - but the ADR fairies granted my secret wish! :wizard:

If you don't get a table out there though, don't panic! Diners inside the restaurant can come out onto a separate little patio to watch Illuminations. :goodvibes

We always end up on the patio. I suggest a late reservation... 7:30-8:00. However, you probably want to avoid their last seating time, as the patio tables are probably already taken.

If you really want to eat on the patio by the lagoon, request it. You might have to wait a little longer to get a seat, but it's worth it.

I had a reservation for 7:30, arrived around 7:10 and asked for a patio table. We were not seated until 8:00 but got it, front and center.

getting that spot is a lot more luck than you think... the staff is often disagreeable at the request

We had an ADR at 8pm - I think they seated us late. We were seated on the porch - there is an awning or roof-type thing over the porch. As we finished our meal - it was approaching Illuminations time. The waitress asked us if we wanted to go down to the viewing area to watch - she said she would wait until after Illuminations and we came back to the table to do dessert and coffee. She acted like it was no big deal - actually encouraged us to go down to the viewing patio.

We stayed where we were for Illuminations. We didn't have a fantastic view of the entire show because of the awning. I'm sure the view was better on the patio she suggested. It was L-O-U-D! Our kids were very afraid of the noise. (Just something to keep in mind)

You can request it but it's not guaranteed. You have a 2 hour seating limit so anytime after 7 is ok, but I'd suggest more towards 7.30 - 8pm reservation so dessert is timed nicely with the fireworks. If you get sat inside, don't panic because there is a special outside viewing area that your server will take you to, which also gives you a perfect view of the fireworks (its right next to the lower patio).

Can we get an adr to do only dessert and coffey for illuminations time or is someone (server)going to get bent about it?

You can but dont mention to them that that's what you're going to do until you are sat down. It's kind of frowned upon because remember that your server earns very little money and a dessert and a drink isn't going to get them much back when they could have had a table with someone ordering a full meal. There is however nothing they can do to stop you, it's just frowned upon.
