It seems like so many people are doing the illuminations dessert parties and I had thought about that for the rehearsal dinner but am just not sure.....
I was interested to know what you did in the evening after the reception, our will end at 6ish? But they may be full....?

Maybe I'm dead to the world... I just don't get what you're trying to say! :guilty:

The reception is what I'm not getting... after the rehearsal dinner? Or are you talking after your wedding reception?

xoxo

the wedding reception.....I had originally thought about doing illuminations for a rehearsal dinner, but am not sure about that, and got to thinking about what people will do after the reception and thought about illuminations for that.

Noooow I follow!

If your reception ends in the early evening (I'm taking the 6 pm figure was the end time), it might be a nice idea. But, if there's 3 hour difference in that time, what are people going to do? Wander around the parks or resort still all dressed up? Change? Get a firm game plan in mind.

We had the GF marina Wishes party that we cancelled... instead, we're doing the rehearsal dinner from the Cali Grill Napa room. Wishes will fall during the last hour, just after he has cut his groom's cake. For us, logistically, it wasn't possible after the reception. If there's a time lapse between the end of the wedding reception and the start of the dessert party and people have been wanred about dessert, they should have room in their tummies!

I say do the Illuminations party asa rehearsal or as a welcome party thing. If your reception ends at 6 there would be an awkward period of time there for your guests. They cold go back to their rooms and change but thats about it.

Our wedding is scheduled ( as of now) to end around 5 p.m. We are still planning on having an Illuminations Dessert party. We will suggest that people can go back to their resorts, do some shopping, wandering, or just nap until the bus comes to get them, or we decide to have everyone meet at the front gate... guess it depends on how many we have at the wedding. :sunny: Whichever, I've heard of several brides having a gap in between their reception and dessert party which is why I decided to have mine... plus I'll need the help reaching our minimum since we are going outside for photography and probably flowers too. I don't personally have enough money to pay for an Illuminations dessert party the night before... and I don't think my in laws would consider that a rehearsal party... :confused3 Oh well... whatever you decide will be wonderful because it's your day. :wizard:

I was thinking of having the Illuminations Party the day after our wedding as a Thank You party to guests and especially my parents.
BUT, I also want my wedding to end around 4-6pm, because I want everyone to take a nap, so we can meet up at PLeasure Island or the ADH to dance the night away!

ive heard of other disney brides having a break between the reception & their dessert party. guests could relax at the reception, go back to their rooms, shop, have fun at the parks, etc.

were having an illuminations dessert party after our reception with no gap. our ceremony will be at 1pm, cocktails & prereception and our pictures 2-4, reception & dinner 4-8:15, illuminations dessert party 8:30-9:30pm. there will be alot of food with the prereception, dinner, cake & dessert party but our family likes food & will be drinking so im not worried theres time between each meal/snack.

fyi only events on your wedding day count towards your minimum.
