Illuminations ending rumor- credible or nah?

I think we will see a WoC look alike or at least some of the same tech in RoL in AK when it opens.
No doubt. All the renderings look the same as WoC. It also seems like they're sticking to their no firework policy at AK. The only question I have is about the Lanterns. What are they going to look like?

We will have to wait and see I think it's going to be a great show I have high hopes.

Hubs doesn't do fireworks, so I am really excited about RoL. I got to see WoC a few years ago and would love to see something reimagined for AK.

I also concur that the 90s EPCOT evening spectacular was better than the current version, though doubtless I will say "Illuminations was so much better than (new incarnation)" in 20 years.

Remember a few months back, someone posted a patent application Disney had made for the use of drones. From what I remember of the patent application, it could very well be used with the Lanterns.

According to what I've heard the drone usage will first be used in a show in Shanghai.

I worked in epcot in1993/94 and have always felt the version of illuminations was much better then with better fireworks, lighting and music. I heard it 5 days a week for a year. Reflections of earth is good but not up to the early 90s version

I liked the earlier version, too. I will be happy if they change Reflections of Earth. That part is boring.

I was just listening to the Disney Nerds (Feb 5) podcast in which they intervewed Len Testa and the rumor was end of illuminations by the end of Sept 2015. Hopefully with replacement to quickly fallow. I find this to be a meh show, something new would be great.

nooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooo - hope it's not true. First they got rid of Spectromagic - they better not get rid of Illuminations too

They wouldn't get rid of it without replacing it.

It's time to replace it, it was written for the Millennium (a thousand circles round the sun.....).

If you saw the holiday version on WOC and what they did with the snowflakes, my guess is that is what you will see done to make the lantern effect.

The showflakes were breathtaking and one of those "how the heck did they do that" moments.

Love illuminations! Ugh. I wonder if they'd have two shows running on select nights. Kind of like they were doing with parades/shows in MK. Always seems a bit early when EPCOT closes right after illuminations. Possibly to encourage park hopping? Love the place, I'm sure I'll love the update eventually.

Disney continues to increase pricing, and eliminating services. Not a surprises that they would eliminate the fireworks. People will continue to come to Disney, no matter what.

They wouldn't eliminate it without putting something new in that's not why it would be leaving the rumor is its leaving to be replaced with a new show but the rumor doesn't have a lot of strength to it at this point.
