Illuminations Cruise Questions

I was thinking of surprising my family (there will be 7 of us -- 4 adults & 3 kids) with an Illuminations Cruise during our trip the beginning of November. How much is the cruise? Are we the only one's on it? How long does it last? How close do you get? Can you see everything? When can you book it? Do you pay in advance or when you get there?

IMHO...it is one of the best values at Disney.....What else can you do for $10 per person.....

Plus it's much less stressful. When we in 2001, trying to keep the kids entertained in the same spot for an hour was a bit much and they got so tired, they ended up falling asleep. Then you're fighting the crowds trying to get out of EPCOT. By doing the cruise, we'll park at the Yacht Club, the cruise will entertain everyone while we wait for the show to start, have an unobstructed, comforted view of Illuminations, then just drive out of the Yacht Club.
