After a sleepless night of dreaming about not being to get through to Disney for my reservation this morning, I woke up at 6:05 central time and realized that it was 7 in Florida. We set the alarm for 7. I was being stupid, and DH just thought that I must know what I was talking about even though he knew we got up at 6 last year :( I fly out of bed run into the kitchen, and we both make the call. I got through after a couple of minutes, and we got our reservation!! It's even for the Saturday night of MLK Weekend. I was all ready to wave my flag of victory when the person I was speaking with told me to dress warmly because it can get down to 25 degrees in January! WHAT??!?!?! Is she just giving the all time low or is this normal?

This is our first night activity. I realize that it might be a bit much for our 2 and 6 year old, but I figure they can sleep if they are tired. We aren't doing anything where they have to be real active. But, I don't want them to be in 25 degree weather our first night just to have them be sick the rest of the trip. Can someone please tell me if this is normal?

First of all, congratulations on your 'victory', raise that flag!!!!! :bounce:

While it can get chilly at night in January, I think the 25º was a bit exaggerrated. Here are the highs, low, averages, records. We did the cruise in early Dec in '99 and it was quite cold out on the water. Check the weather forecasts before your trip and bring clothes appropriate. From Coralville, you know how to dress warmly, layers. Enkoy your cruise, a family memory forever. :wave2:

Sometimes it is just good or bad luck we spent NYE of 00-01 in Disney and FROZE. They actually had matress pads on al the outdoor plants at BW. We never took orur jackets off. It can also be cold under the bridge. The good news is they supply you with really warm blankets and who knows, you may get a warm night.

Enjoy
Sandy

Thanks for the replies. I think I will wait and see once it gets closer. If it is going to be absolutely freezing, I will cancel it. If the weather is decent, we'll try it out.

Oh, don't cancel, LOL, even if it is a bit chilly. It is a wonderful evening, and you will be as warm as toast. You have a 'hot ticket' there.

And I really like your clipart, Nicole, VERY neat!!!!!!

Dan, I think I'm just being stupid. I don't even know why I'd consider canceling. It's a great opportunity. We'll be able to see Illuminations and get that out of the way and not have to use another evening to do so. We won't be in the parks that day. Plus, I have family from Orlando that we are going to invite along with us. So, I'm just being silly. The weather park just scared me. I've been anticipating this for the last few months, and maybe I was worried because it seemed to easy to get.

Thanks for the encouragement. And, thanks for the compliment on my signature. I love it too. Someone made two of them for me a couple years ago. I have "lost" the other one, though. It was almost identical, but had Mickey and Minnie with luggage. I used it when we were planning a trip.

If you have Orlando family members coming along, ask them to bring some blankets to put over your legs if it is cold during that time! The Illuminations cruise is something very special and fun; bundle up if necessary and have a grand time!!!!
