I just booked an Illuminations cruise for November 11. I know they said that they can't guarantee seeing Illuminations if it is cancelled due to lightening but...wouldn't they also cancel the cruise in those conditions? What happens then? I wouldn't be that upset if they had to cancel as long as we don't have to cough up the 120+. Has this happened to anyone? Thank you.

If Illuminations is cancelled and they rarely do this, especially in November, they refund your money.

Thank you Gail. Since we're actually splitting this cruise with my parents and in-laws, I want them to have piece of mind in that aspect - plus it's on my credit card (ha).

Thats great news Gail....I think I asked this question myself and didnt get any replies. I guess if they need to cancel Illuminations because of weather it would also be too dangerous to send a boat out too right?!

What if Illuminations is delayed and the boat has to return?

How long could it possibly be delayed? They said to meet our boat at 8:15 pm. I would think we would have the boat for at least an hour or so considering Illum usually starts at 9 pm. I think also if all the boats are docked and waiting for Illum and it is a little late they probably would stay (hoping at least).

The boats are not on timers.
If the drivers knew in advance that IllumiNations was going to be delayed, well then they would just adjust the departure time to suit approx 1-hour cruise and fireworks.
If after they were parked under the bridge and for one reason or another IllumiNations started 15 minutes later than normal, they would not until they were finished.
If Disney cancels IllumiNations, you are not charged, if you decide you do not want to meet your appointment, and you do not cancel in time, you will be charged.

I asked this question to a CRO CM when I booked my Illuminations cruise on our last trip. Her answer supported everything that was posted here with one exception. If for some reason, Illuminations is cancelled for "technical difficulties" or something like that, and your boat can still go out on the cruise, you could still be charged even if you do not end up seeing the actual show.

I don't know if this has ever actually happened, but just something to be aware of...
