Thanks to a fellow DISer (Zulaya rules!), our group of six and six other DISers enjoyed an awesome Illuminations cruise during our trip last week.
"We" are me, DH, my brother, sister-in-law, her mom and my 3.5 year old nephew. There were 12 of us, so it was only $10 per person (plus tip at your discretion).
It was a highlight of our trip! We met at the Yacht Club dock where Captain Aaron explained everything. The kids were outfitted with life preservers and we boarded a spacious and comfortable pontoon boat at around 8:30 PM. Aaron took us on a fascinating water tour of WDW--past Epcot resorts, boardwalk & MGM. He told us a few fun facts we did not know, and we got to see WDW from a whole new perspective. Then, we tied up with two other boats for our viewing of Illuminations. Wow! We were able to see the images on the globe as we never have before.
Nephew was a little scared by the noise and heat of the fire, but he enjoyed it overall (he kept telling Aaron to be careful and slow down!) We were on board for an hour.
If you get a chance to do this, please do! You won't be sorry. Perfect for a DIS meet, as we did (DISers are even more fantastic in person) or a "Magical Gathering."
Sorry, I do not know what number to call, but there should be many informative threads on the DIS Meets Board.
