It just hit me that my little plan for a "down and dirty" one-day trip on December 30 may not work out as I had planned. We will be spending just one full day at the parks (AK in the morning, Epcot and hopefully Wishes in the evening). Then I realized that we may not gain access to MK after Illuminations because of the crowds. I think that the special fireworks are at midnight. Any advise?

I would say probably not. If it is like I think it will be, the parks will probably be filled to capacity. So I would say stay in one park.

December 30 won't be QUITE as crowded as December 31; and you can always watch Wishes from various locations outside the Magic Kingdom - the dock area at the Contemporary, the waterfront at Fort Wilderness, the TTC, possibly the beach at the Polynesian (although there are times they allow only Poly Guests and do check IDs)... possibly even from the ferry...

Of course there will be special fireworks on December 30. It's my birthday! (Sorry, couldn't resist.) :)
