I just read on Deb Wills' sight a reader comment that they had booked a birthday cruise and that being down on the water, the smoke and fumes made it "almost unbearable" at times. Those of you on a recent Illuminations cruise, did you find that to be an issue?

Well it wasn't recently but we had one in December 1999 and if the wind is blowing in your direction the smoke can be pretty bad. I didn't find it unbearable but it was very noticable. Unfortunately you won't know which way the wind is blowing until it is time for the show.

As becka said, it depends entirely on which way the wind is blowing that evening. That said, no matter where you stand there is a chance the wind will blow towards you. It's not so bad if you're further away from the show features, but then.....well..... you're further away from the show features!

I wouldn't base my decision to do an Illuminations cruise on that one commentary. Chances are excellent that you'll have a fabulous view and a smoke-free experience.
