Illinois WDW Lovers?!

Another Illinois Disney Freak here!! I was born in Brookfield, then moved to Romeoville and I now currently live in Morris,IL!! We are planning to move to Florida though in eight years, right after my brother graduates from Morris High School and is in college. That way we can stay in Morris schools until college!! So I can only hope that time comes soon!! Anyways, we currently have a vacation planned for July 20th to July 26th 2008 at the Poly!! So is there any fellow Morris residences or fellow Illinois July vacationers out there??:listen:

Hey Ratboy!

OMG, how weird is this..

I grew up a block away from Evanston.

Across the street from Ryan field. My parents still live there. Go NU!

Hey neighbor!:rotfl2:

Disney diva where at in the Quad Cities? I am in Moline!

I live in Moline too (Franklin Elem, Wilson Middle, MSH Class of '80) ! Looks we were at WDW at about the same time for Free Dining last year (I booked the bounceback and am heading back in September this year too).

I see you have young ones - I used to work part time at TDS in Northpark (back before TCP days). Do you ever get over there?

I'm heading to the Two Rivers Y (in training for the Expedition Everest Challenge in September). TTFN, Alisa

Champaign checking in too!!!! We love WDW and go as often as possible.

Yup! I moved here when I was 17 to attend U of I and wound up staying. My house is actually in Savoy now, after years of renting in Champaign itself.

actually I work in Savoy, I am typing from there now!!!!

My college roommate and one of my best friends was from Morris. I visited him a few times there and he took me to watch someone do the Ethyl burger challenge at R-place, does that count? ;)

Small world! Maybe we've passed each other in the aisles at Schnuck's or Wal-mart! :rotfl2:

My physical appearance decidedly does NOT scream "Disney fan," though. I'm a bit more stealthy :)

I live at the Schnucks in Savoy! I'm there at least three times a week, or so it seems. I was born in Urbana, grew up and still like in SW Champaign, and feed and drink myself in Savoy.

Did I mention my husband thinks I'm insane for how much I love Disney World!?!

We live in Bloomington now but I grew up on the south side of Chicago, actually in the city but across the street from Blue Island.

I'm in the middle of nowhere Illinois. ;)

:woohoo: More C-U people! Wow, I am getting homesick. They were just starting to build out towards Savoy when I left about 17 years ago and it was that big cornfield with the airport in the middle of nowhere. I can't believe it is now the hot area--and with a Schnucks too! I don't think there was even a gas station out there when I was growing up.;)

Hi MosMom! I didn't know you were from Illinios? And from you description I take it you are from the Savoy area also? :rotfl:

I worked at the Savoy movie theater when I was a student at the University of Illinois! Lived in Champaign-Urbana for 5 years. I am originally from the South side of Chicago (went to Mother McAuley High School) and now live in Downers Grove, IL.

I also work at Northwestern University in Chicago GO WILDCATS! (OH and GO ILLINI - can't forget my alma mater)

Another Disney fan from Illinois, I live in Galesburg. Will be heading back in Aug. with my boys & in Dec. with friends :thumbsup2

And you better not forget your alma mater! ;)

WOW!!! Never thought I'd see another from Bourbonnais! We're leaving in 9 days (June 1 - 11) and can't wait. Glad to meet ya, workinmomof2.

Tracy

Glad to meet you too!!! Very unusual, even though the Village seems to be growing everyday!

The plaza where the Savoy 16 theater is (framed by Curtis, Burwash, Dunlap/Neil, and Prospect) has really started to explode the past two years. Schnuck's, Pages for All Ages, BW3, Eastern Taste Buffet, Star Karaoke BBQ, Marble Slab Creamery, Subway restaurant, some banks, Body & Sole sporting goods, Babyland...

The North Prospect area in Champaign has really become a commercial district as well too, packed with your typical strip malls. Poor street layout makes the weekends there a little hectic. Dowtown Champaign has started to revitalize too; new businesses and construction moving in and lots of renovation as well.

I think it was the research park at the University that brought a lot of families and tech to the area. Motorola was there for a while, Intel, IBM, and some others, so that the town has definitely started to grow into more than just a "University support town" as my friend calls it. Nice to see it, because when I got here (in 1994) there was just Marketplace Mall and it was about to go under...that's been completely redone and expanded too. You should come back for a visit sometime and see the place!

Yeah I'm pretty happy here. I moved from the East Coast and will probably head back there eventually when I want to settle down for good, but I couldn't have asked for a more comfortable place to learn how to be an adult.

Wow. My parents and brother are still there and my High School Reunion is this year but I don't think I am going to make it back. :( I really loved growing up there. My mom keeps me updated and I know the last time I was home about 5 years ago I couldn't believe things. Sounds like I would be even more amazed now. In fact I was talking with Mom about her moving and she said they may look out towards the Savoy area.

I actually worked at Market Place Mall in college. I worked at the Cookie Company for a Christmas Season, and then at the Information Desk for about a year or so. I loved it there. I know Mom said it was getting really run down and awful. I would love to see the new look! Of course I remember when it was being built and we were so excited that we finally were getting a real "MALL"!!! It was in a lovely color scheme of oranges! Then they re-did it in Grey and Red in the early 80's.

One of the biggest frustrations to my roommate and I in college was that there was no Wal-mart and we would drive to (I think) Rantoul where the closest Wal-mart was! And I actually lived in Mahomet/Seymour growing up so Champaign/Urbana was the big city! My brother currently works at Channel 3 and has been there for years.

Nice to hear that Downtown Champaign is getting the TLC it needs. I always loved that area. Hmm, maybe I should look into plane tix to come for that reunion. . .
