I have already pre-purchase Genie Plus for my upcoming trip. Since I am staying onsite, I have Early Park Entry. Do you think I will be okay to rope drop ROTR or do I need to also purchase ILL? Really would like to save the $60 if possible, as costs are mounting quickly. Thanks!

Rope dropping Rise is a mixed bag from my experience. In February it was a walk on to the preshow and I was off the ride before the beginning of early entry (sometimes they open Rise and Smuggler's before early entry starts). A lot of the time though Rise goes down during early entry. It did on both of my HS days on my May trip. By buying the ILL it guarantees that you'll be able to go on at some point in the day and you're essentially paying to avoid the gamble.

You can also try getting in line right before the park closes. I did that on my first HS day but the ride broke down and they cleared the queue (I did get a recovery pass that I could use on my second HS day though). Ignore whatever the posted wait at the end of the night is. When I got in line it said 55 but I was in the preshow in 20.

We just got back from our trip. We arrived at 7:00 for 8:00 early entry time. They let guests in at 7:30. We were able to walk right on to ROTR and Smuggler's Run. The 7:30 entry happened twice on our trip (our boys LOVE SW).

I've done early entry twice and both times it went down before it even started. First time the line was already at about 90 min and that was with the ride down, I just walked away. The second time I waited in line 60 min. and it went down and they told everyone to leave the line. I didn't go back the first trip that happened. The second trip, I went back a different night about 8:15, the wait was posted 70 min., it took about 30 to get on the ride. So it's a crap shoot but if the stars are aligned and you get there earlier than the early entry, you should be able to get on it.

We hit Rise at 7:40 pm on Friday (9 pm closing). We rode twice and could have done it a 3rd time had we wanted to. That may be a more efficient use of time than early morning.
