ILL is aptly named.

Agreed, just got done w a four day trip and there really needs to be some way to find out what time you are getting BEFORE you accept it ( not after)
Agree. If I purchase thinking I'm getting one time, but only after purchase is complete I find I actually have another time - what if I can't do that time? Do I cancel and get my $$ refunded?

Thanks for the info.

So if I don't click the 10:15 quickly, it might then change to 12:30, correct? And would I see that it now says 12:30 before I start payment? That's the question which I'm not sure of the answer right now.

We know the OP saw 9:00, then saw 10:15, and ended up with 12:30. Did they see 12:30 at any point before they finished the payment process?
Correct. I've purchased ILL$ several times now and the time you select does not change after you've paid. Unless you are really slow, it gives you time to pay- even if you take time to enter a gift card number.
The G+ selections do change time after you select, as they are always "next available" , so if there are multiple guests selecting at the same time- you get whatever it happens to be.

I know I have read somewhere that your time is held for 10 minutes.

I'm wondering if it might have taken OP more than 10 minutes to complete payment? In which it showed 10:15 when payment process started, but after 10 mintues when payment was completed, it now confirmed a completely new time (12:30).

Is that possible?

It happened on every G+ reservation we tried to make. My very favorite was when we booked slinky dog at 9:20am, clicked the button to reserve it and the confirmation page said 7:30PM. I almost threw my phone out the window.

I refuse to purchase G+ now for this reason. My money was better spent on a Touring Plans subscription and using the LINES app to avoid waits.

My guess would be that OP didn't click the 10:15 fast enough and was shown the next closest thing which was 12:30?

Screen 1 - Tip board, always says "window starts at 9am" in the morning because that's park open but with RISE that is a lie about .0025 seconds past 7:00 am as we all know it. Magical spinning loading circle after you click that takes you to the "real" times.
Screen 2 - Past the tip board to "Select a Time" screen, spot where you actually select your preferred time - 9am was already gone and OP attempts to choose 10:15 as their option. Nothing is locked here and thousands of people are frantically clicking the times and the continue button at the bottom to get past this screen. 10:15 sells out here.
Screen 3 - Review your purchase - 12:30 is now shown here since it's still not locked in.
Screen 4 - (Purchase screen) This is the screen with the countdown that shows ten minutes to complete purchase. Then you go on to confirm your payment info.
I'm gonna try and slap screenshots on here (not mine - all credit to the bloggers). If you don't have the timer yet your ILLS are being sold out from under you at any other time. I think if it took more than ten minutes to check out they would bump you back a screen to confirm a new time instead of just selling you something you didn't agree to.

So the $64,000 question - did the time jump between screens 3 and 4 and it's hidden in the summary? Someone with an AP can probably just grab a park rez and test this out for us in the morning, actually. Any takers?

I find there are even different features on the exact same version of the app on different phones. My daughter can click on her iPhone tab and it refreshes. Android users have to swipe down. Slinky updating (and just Slinky!) has been broken for me for a few days despite cache clear, uninstall, and re-install. I have to swipe right (just for that one ride!) then click "tip board" again to get that one ride to refresh. My wife and I both have Samsung Galaxy's. Mine is the latest model, hers is 2 versions back. Our tip boards look different! her "edit selections" looks completely different than mine and she can't swipe right! Just horrible. This will be our last Disney trip and we are very sad about it after 40 years of visiting Disneyland and Disney World every few years. We will be going to Universal from now on and have cut short Disney to do them instead.

Most look like that, but RotR never gave me the option to choose a preferred time. It worked like the old virtual queue where I had to click all guests...then gave me a surprise time

The fact that this stupid system has been in place for months now and there are still multiple answers to clarifying questions, says everything you need to know about it. It's awful. It will remain awful for as long as Disney keeps selling out. My family will not be back because of it. If you've used both G+ / ILL and Universal EP, you really see how a program is done right and how one is done wrong.

I am aware Disney can't do the same thing as Universal with their EP, but they could offer a variation of it.

But to make G+ an even playing field for those paying astronomical on-site rates vs those staying off-site or even visiting just for the day, is truly the worst part of the program.

The only thing Disney keeps on innovating, is ways to get more of their guest's money.

The rides are stale. Each park has 3, maybe 4 worthwhile rides if your kids are over the age of 6. The "magic" is gone due to cost cutting. The crowds are ridiculous.

Right now they are living on Generation X / Boomers taking their kids / grandkids to re-live their fond memories of going multiple times in the past. But when it's just "not the same", there will be less repeat visits and this current group of kids won't feel as connected to take their families.

Negative. The entire transaction was completed in under 60 seconds. The purchase email is time stamped 7:01.

We just did this last week and that's how it was - time was held while payment was completed. Time can change before you start that step but once you are in there you have several minutes to finish the payment.

So in your example where time bounced from 9 to 10:15, you have to click on the 10:15 quickly to lock it in and *then* it's ok to breathe again.
Thats how it worked for us for ILL$. Once selected, we had a few minutes to complete the process and keep the time selected.
LL, however was a crap shoot until you were done. Selecting the initial time, it would change on the next screen and if you weren't fast enough, it changed again before confirming.
Why can't they give you even 30 seconds to hold that time till you confirm?

That's what I saw too, but maybe it changed. I actually had to wait for the dreaded verification code, and it still held my time. However, maybe it only held my time due to sending the code. This was Thanksgiving weekend, and we bought ROTR, MMRR, FOP, 7DMT, Remy, and Space Mountain (ride went down at opening and we had a short day, leaving day).

Hi, can I ask an innocent question or two? My family went to WDW last June, and we all had a great time, we loved it all. I'm now taking my little boy in August (third week), and I'm worried about the new changes. Do you absolutely NEED Genie, Genie +, ILL to have a good trip? I hate the thought of staring at my phone all day, just doesn't sound like what a vacation should be. There are so many posts about Genie, etc, I haven't really explored it all in detail, but......it all seems a bit complicated, and that's not how I want our vacation to go! Thank you in advance for your time and help!

Well it depends. Without either expect to stand in really long lines for everything and or spend all day in the park.. We did AK today with just a ILL for FOP. We got the the park about 8:45. We headed straight to Navi which was listed at 55 min but we were on in 25. Next was KS which was listed at 55 min and ran just about that. By the time we were done with both it was time to head to to our Tiffins Reservation to check in at 11:40. We had lunch and used out FOP FP and left about 2. The days of getting in and riding 4 or 5 rides before noon are Done!

Setting aside the fact that ILL$ adds a significant upcharge to use the LL for a single ride, it could have been set up in a way that might greatly enhance a WDW visit. They could have allowed you to purchase your time up to 24 hours in advance instead of having to compete every morning at 7 am. They could have designed the system to hold the time you select for even as little as 1 minute to allow you to check out and actually get the time they offered to you.

Sadly, they rolled this out with, not just glitchy IT, but a fundamentally flawed design that is extremely frustrating for every user as they watch the times keep changing through the check-out process.

In all seriousness, I’m sure the 7 am thing was done on purpose to force guests to wake up early under some theory that the longer guests are awake on vacation the more they are spending money.

One thing that I think is dramatically overstated by many posters is the idea that Genie+ and ILL force you to be staring at your phone all day.

With a little planning in advance to learn the basics of how the system works, and how it affects the attractions you are most interested in, you can use Genie+ and ILL to save yourself a lot of time waiting in lines while only going to your phone to make a reservation once every hour or two at the most.

In all seriousness, I’m sure the 7 am thing was done on purpose to force guests to wake up early under some theory that the longer guests are awake on vacation the more they are spending money.

What time would you recommend that would be better for more people than 7 AM?

Given the number of people who have been arriving for rope drop long before this system went into place, there are obviously a lot of WDW guests who are up before 7 AM anyway.

If you are, in fact, serious about the 7 AM kickoff, what time would you recommend?

Any time in the morning later than 7 AM would be very inconvenient for people who are already heading to the parks to start their day.

Any time while the parks are open would be very inconvenient for anyone in the parks who would have to keep an eye on the clock and stop what they are doing to make a reservation for the next day.

Any later than 10 PM would be inconvenient for people who are returning from the parks and those who like to turn in early after a tiring day in the parks.

We’re hearing about how much more crowded parks are now at opening than they were years ago, a phenomenon that didn’t just start in October when this system first went into effect.

I think 7 AM is the most logical choice that will work for the most people.

Park open. Just like they do at DLR.
