My DH is taking our boys camping this weekend, going with DH's best friend and at least one of his two sons. This is something that the dads do every year, and the first time in a couple of years that my boys are both able to go. So, I'll have the house to myself from Friday morning through Monday sometime. I have to work Friday and Monday mornings, but that's it!

I should be looking forward to it -- and I was -- but the couple of friends I was hoping to see are all busy (one leaves on vacation tomorrow morning), and I'm afraid I'm facing a lonely weekend. I have a bunch of movies on Tivo for just such an occasion, and I'll go out to an actual movie theatre one night, I'm sure. Complicating matters is a lack of funds -- so I can't just splurge and go downtown or do something really fun, and window shopping when you know you can't buy anything just doesn't appeal to me. My parents are gone for the weekend, there aren't any craft fairs in the area...

At least I won't have to listen to my DH snoring for three nights!

What time is the keg being tapped?

I'm totally jealous! I can count on one hand how many times I've had the house to myself since we moved in 13 months ago. :sad2:

Enjoy!!!

I feel your pain, I hate when the kids are gone even if it's just for one night. I even dislike having their friends spend the night just because I know that probably means the friend's parents will then feel obligated to reciprocate! They don't understand that I'd much rather the kids be over here. DD is having a friend spend the night tonight but her mom has been taking DD to the pool during the day while I work, so I'm hoping we can call it even. :)

Forget your friends and enjoy relaxing with out nothing to do (watch a sad movie, dis, get a pizza)

Are you kidding? You should be doing a Snoopy happy dance inside.

Take a long luxurious bubble bath and soak with a good book. Have your favorite meal that everyone else hates. Turn up the stereo, and like in Risky Business, do a Tom Cruise-type dance in your undies around the house. Just enjoy some alone, quiet time. Get back to your own rhythm. Not your wife rhythm, Not your mom rhythm.

I'm alone tonight. Oldest DD is in Germany, DH and youngest DD are away at college orientation. So I'm flipping between the Mavericks and the Ranger on tv and just enjoying the quiet. :goodvibes

A few times since my DD has been born, she is now 11, she and my DH have been out of town for a family function that I have had to miss since I work on Saturdays.

Hurrah. Friends have asked if I am going out, hitting the casino, going to the movies.

Heck no!!!! I lived by myself for 13 years before getting married. I luxuriate in my aloneness and in my clean kitchen counter.

Living on the edge, I know, but boy did my house look lovely, and did I enjoy having it completely silent and to myself.

Find some way to enjoy your weekend.

I hope you do!!!!

Go to the library and get books or movies. It's free and you will have peace and quiet.

I always take the rare opporotunities when I have the house to myself to do the things I love doing. I usually take a nice long hot bath, have a movie marathon and bake something that when I consume I will not feel guilty about the calories. I love spending time with friends but I also enjoy my alone time.

Party at erincon's house Saturday night! Bring your own everything and enough for her too, and we all stay and help clean up afterwards! :rotfl2:

Who's in?

Sounds good!

It's not that I have any problem with having the house to myself -- it's been a long time since both boys have been gone all day even, at least (one returnee from college for the last semester, and one who has been home with various long-term illnesses), I love to travel by myself, and I love to read and do things by myself -- it's more that it's 4 days and my playmates are all gone too. If I had money, I could easily occupy myself, but I'm afraid I face a long weekend of nothing. And you can only read for so long. But now I have someone coming over tomorrow night for DVD night, so that will help.

OK, so what time will you all be here?

Your weekend sounds like my idea of heaven. :cloud9: I enjoy having the house to myself for long weekends.

I remember the first time I was alone for a couple of days, and I hated it.

Then I started getting used to it and now I LOVE having a couple of days to myself.

I always watch movies that DH doesn't care to watch, stay up late, sleep in late. Read a good book, and/or some magazines. Either cook something special for myself, or get Chinese take-out. Go for a nice long walk if it's summer. Play SIMS on the computer. Drag out old photo albums. Clean and organize a closet or two. So many things to do when I'm home alone, I never get bored. I hope you enjoy yourself this weekend.

I'll be by myself this weekend too (me and the dog).

DH is going on a fishing trip for the weekend.

I'm looking forward to having the house to myself for a couple of days.

Have a great weekend, OP.:thumbsup2

Let's see....married 22 years with 3 kids....I've had the house to myself overnight for exactly 0 nights. Your weekend sounds like heaven to me!! I would curl up on the couch with several good books and some sort of fattening snack item. I'd also love it that I'd have complete control over the television for once!

Enjoy your weekend :)

This happens in my house about 2x a year. All the boys and dad go for a "guys only" weekend. It is wonderful. Just relax, take a bubble bath, watch what you want on TV! :goodvibes

I am a SAHM and I would rather have the weekdays to myself personally, but I think it is because I spent the last 20 years of DH working all weekend. I got so tired of watching all the families, do family stuff on the weekend and He wasn't around.
