Ill During Induction??

Hello All

I have been doing induction for Atkins for only two days - it is 10.55 in the morning on the third day. I have felt terrible since the middle of the day on the first day. Weakness, headaches, terrible diarrhoea and I have been feeling like I want to be sick all the time. Now this morning I have been sick and feel even worse.

I can barely type this for fear I will throw up again! Sorry this is so gross - but I wonder if anyone has experienced anything like this? To be honnest I don't think I can carry on with this - it is just too bad. I am lucky that I have been home these past few days because there is no way I could function in the outside world like this!

I have not eaten anything that is not specifically allowed in induction and I have been taking the suppliment. I have had two cups of decaf with cream each day and otherwise have only had water.

I don't know if the problem is caused by the fact that I have been on a low calorie, low fat diet for 6 weeks before starting Atkins. I have the Atkins book - and have read it throughly - and was prepared for a short period of feeling 'under the weather' but nothing like this!

Any advice or thoughts welcomed. At the moment I am so upset and I feel so ill I couldn't think of eating anything! I feel that perhaps Atkins is not suited to everyone - I felt so postive about my decision a few days ago - now I am so down I feel like giving up my diet altogether!
Sorry this post is so long and so gross,
Claire:(

Perfectly normal to feel like a doormat during induction...it took me 8 days to feel better and get my energy back. Lost my appetite, just wanted to sleep, had digestive disurbances..stick with it and sometime a handful of pecans or almonds gave me a little boost.

you poor thing!

my DH became very sick the first week of induction. it ended up just being a case of the flu. we chose to stop induction because he was concerned that he was "starving" his body of the nutrients it was used to having in order to fight this off. so , we stopped induction until he felt better, then we went back into it full force. DH lost nearly 10 pounds while i lost about 7.

hang in there...after induction i feel a million times better than i did before i started!!

I agree, this is normal! I was the same way and by Day 3 I wanted to crawl up in my room and not wake up! I had really bad headaches and I was so sick to my stomach, but thanks to all the advice here, I stuck with it and on Day 4 I felt 100% better!! :) I know it is terrible now, but trust me, it does get better!! Keep it up, you can do it!! :)

We are all here if you need us! :)

I was the same way. On day 1 and 2 I thought I would die. On day three I woke up a new woman. I had told myself on day 2 that if I woke up and felt this way one more day I was giving up. The next day I woke up and have not felt bad since then!!! Hang in there...it DOES get better. You are going through withdrawal.

Hello

Thanks for the advice and support - it did help!! I continued to feel ill during day three - but vowed I would stick with it. Yesterday was day four and I felt quite a bit better - not sick but just headachey. Today is day five and I feel about 90% better today - just a linger of a slight headache.

I hope tomorrow I may be on the road to the great feeling you are supposed to have. :)

Thanks to all of you who responded it did help to feel that it was not exceptional to feel like that and that I would come out of it!

Thanks,
Claire:wave:

Keep going Claire,

Just think...you will lose all that weight, and you will be able to carry and extra pin bag...lol.

Glad to hear you are starting to feel better. Keep up the good work!

Hi Claire, it's Vicki. Hope to see the 'new' you in September. Guess you'll get to see the new me too :teeth:
