Yep.. My 38 yr. old DD grounded me.. I'm not allowed to go to the General Store again until they come back up here this weekend..

Why? Because I paid $10 for a 16-month calendar that is all color photos of the bridge that crosses the lake up here - that they will be demolishing when they build the new one..:( Some of the work has already begun..

I have been coming here every year since 1952 - and have crossed that bridge literally thousands of times.. It's a very long bridge - and our family tradition (passed down through the generations) was always to see who could hold their breath from one end to the other - excluding the driver, of course.. LOL..

Anyhow - these photos are so awesome! Every season; during the day; at night; one with a gorgeous rainbow over the bridge and mountains.. Just stunning!! :lovestruc

I just had to have it for my "volumes" of lake memorabilia scrapbooks.. I normally don't fritter away money on things that I'm not going to actually "use" for the purpose they were intended - but come one - this should be the exception to the rule!! :headache:

Of course maybe I could have slid it past her - if I didn't also mention the chocolate cake I bought because it was "calling my name"...:rolleyes1

Are adult children allowed to "ground" their parents?

Not fair!!! :headache:

$10 is pretty cheep for 12 pieces of nice artwork you can hang on your walls :thumbsup2:thumbsup2:thumbsup2

I'd tell her to stuff it. Then I'd hole myself up in your lake house and refuse to leave.

Seriously though, that's not cool. Unless you have the mental capacity of a 4 year old or spent your life savings on Wild Turkey and Kit Kat bars, I can't imagine why she told you it was too much to spend your money on.

She was only kidding..;) We're always "grounding" each other for stuff.. LOL.. Actually I think that was one of the things she was going to buy me for my birthday next week and I beat her to it..:rotfl:

Wild Turkey & Kit-Kat bars...you say that like it's a bad thing :drinking1 .

well tell her to go ahead and buy you another one because by next week you will have forgotten where you put the first one.

Great idea! :thumbsup2 Then one I could take apart for the scrapbooks and use the other (it's a 16 month, Sept. 2010 to Dec. 2011)..:rotfl:

:lmao: Wild Turkey and Kit Kat bars...

I'd tell her to go pound sand.

And then I'd go buy another one. :rolleyes1:cool1:

I would tell her to pound sand.

It's a $10 purchase, using YOUR OWN money. What's the big flipping deal?

Tell her she's grounded and when she asks why, tell her you're the mom and you said so.

I bet it would drive her nuts trying to figure out what she did wrong. :lmao:

Simmer down folks.. It's a joke.. LOL..

I know it's rare for people to lighten up and have a little fun here, but I did post further up that she was kidding..;)

:rotfl:

Stop the demolition! Chain yourself to the bridge!! I'd like to see you and your bridge profiled on the national news tomorrow night.... ;)

you know your grounding is going to be extended when she realizes you told an entire internet board how old she is right?

Whew.

So funny and I know your pain!!!! :lmao:

I love and have a collection of beautiful scenic calendars! Another one here who is used to buying something if I really need/want it and I can't tell you how many times my DD's have either already purchased it as surprise or were planning too. :rotfl2:

The chocolate cake that was calling your name will remain our secret!?!? ;)

I'm 41 and my mom threatened to SPANK me if I bought myself the new Professor Layton Nintendo DS game since my birthday is only a month and a half away. I guess I know what she's getting me for my birthday, though. ;)

Aw that's cute, CAnn! Just do what I did...break the grounding! I only did it once though because I was a scairdy cat teenager and not a brave one!
