Il Pochi il Fiero y Blabbermouths...Magical Reunion FINALLY!!!

Welcome back Garry!

I can't wait to here your trip report! Irene is keeping us in suspense with her serial report!

Still waiting on the snow/ice here - everything, including the airports shut down early in anticipation. School cancelled tomorrow.

Mary - I think you may need to help out Monica on the WHERE in the Ship ARE WE guessing game.

GaRRy and Vicki - welcome back. I hope you had fun.

Good Morning All and a belated Happy New Year.

Year of the Rabbit.

I have time to post a few more photos.

FEEDBACK

How am I doing on the tour -- too many pictures, too few? Not enough commentary?????

We are timewise about to go into the First Night's Show and then dinner and eventually Jurassic Park.

But First - Where on the Ship Are We Now?

Looking rather windswept I must admit - and since the luggage had not arrived, we did not change for dinner. Needless to say, we did not purchase the first dinner picture - but I digress from the challenge of Name that Place.

Have a warm day all.

OK I'm ready for my guess. My guess is that you are in the Walt Disney Suite.

SHOWTIME - the theatre is similar to the Magic, but expanded as it is 2 levels. The first night we were a bit late, not intended - but we had been exploring (still haven't told you where....) and rushed to Deck 3 for the 7:00 show which may have been earlier. They did change up the show times depending on events, so "check the Navigator". The cast members that welcome you now take your Key to the World Card and swipe it to see if you are at the right time.

We did not have problems with lines, it did not seem to slow down the process. One night they even checked us in manually by room number. We also did not find the shows fully booked as it was. Perhaps because folks had seen them before? We made sure we were early for BELIEVE....a must see.

But back to tonight - Mike was SUPER as always.

We did not know to the singer -

And here she is with Mickey and your Cruise Director.

After the Show - we poured out into the Shopping Area and it was a zoo. Some guests ruined it for the rest of us by grabbing armfuls of merchandize so there were no T-shirts left after our show. And the lines were unreal. I found out later the stuff was on e-bay the first night. Let's hope this will fade in time.

We walked down Deck 3 past the Lobby and the beautiful moziacs - whcih are all over the ship. I did not get the photos I wanted of them - not enough time. I thought it would be perfect to have Hedie in her princess hat in Cinderalla's chair.

Dinner was at the Royal Palace. We sat with two other couples, and had nice meals all nights - None of us were able to book Remy or Palo - all were returning cruisers. And the Royal Palace is so pretty.

All the Menus except for Pirate Night were labeled with Maiden Voyage - they may be posted somewhere on the Dis, I have not yet scanned mine. The food was good. I would not say it was very good at the Royal Palace, perhaps because it was the end of a long day and I was tired, or the beginning of a long cruise for our servers. Our servers were also good. They were not as "good" or experienced or entertaining as those I have shared with you, but we went expecting that some training was still needed and I do not share the negative comments posted on some of the main boards. If I had been at been at a restaurant, I would have tipped 15%, not my normal 20%...if that helps.

The princesses make appearances throughout the night. We did not get a visit from any of the princesses - no children perhaps? Dinner was running late? And we only ever saw Belle....so I think some of this is timing.

I was disappointed when I requested "berries" for dessert that I was told there were none - and I was not offered any substitutes such as a fruit cup.

I really think they were overwhelmed.

Meanwhile the Royal Palace is very, very pretty. We did not get to see it when it was empty and perhaps a bit lighter - so I do not have any good pictures to post.

Nightime. We went to bed after dinner - as it was late and I was tired. I had not posted but I was sick the week before and running out of steam.

We opened the door and a wonderful display by our cabin host greeted us:

beee9434.jpg

When we pulled back the curtain, the couch had been made into a bunk - I expect they really give Hedgie the royal treatment if she gets a bed all to herself. :lmao:

And then we realized we had walked into JURASSIC PARK!!!!!!!

Remember the Deck Plan - they have moved the clubs aft - and the clubs are on deck 4 - including the new non-Disney Evolution. One of our new favourite bartenders was explaining it is a civilian theme, no uniforms, no name badges and no sensitivity to the volume or pounding of the music.

MOST IMPORTANT TRAVEL HINT OF THEM ALL -

If you are booked on deck 5 aft - RUSH to the phone and book another room.
DO THIS NOW - DO NOT DELAY ANY FUTHRE. If we were given a cruise and had to be on Deck 5 aft we would decline unless we were allowed to sleep on deck. It is that bad. Curling into a fetal position is not a relaxing option. Some relief is gained by sleeping on the chair on the veranda, but it is a standard outside chair, not a lounge. I had a pillow for a while as I would not put foot back inside the room.

Granted I was tired, but I also could not turn off the light on the veranda. No one answered at guest services, No crew person in the hall could help me so I went to guest services at 12:30 at night - the line was out to the elevators. Eventually I got to speak to a very nice person, but he knew nothing either. He reported it and up I go to Jurassic Park (H**L) and the pounding is worse. It is not the noise as much as the pounding. I see my neighbor hauling luggage out the door - she has been moved. I turn around and go back to the desk - finally get near the front and Disney had two officers attempting to assist the line (no clue what the other issues were - one lady was trying to book the platinum tours...) Andy explained the ship was full. I understood but explained that my neighbor was moved and that I was really not happy and this was not aceptable. I expect it could have been avoided by going somewhere on the ship until 2:00 am, but the other clubs close at midnight. Perhaps a blanket Topside would work if it was not raining?

Another cabin was found and he sent a very nice (poor guy) Crew member with me to make sure it was ok before the moved us. We went up to Deck 9 - sweet. (not suite) but Deck 9 is sure nice. more about that later. I call Sam - and say we can be moved. Sam is by now not happy and not sleeping. And if you recall our luggage was late so we had not unpacked. This is a good thing. Disney had offered to let us sleep in the new room and they would help moving things the next day. That was very nice but we moved ourselves. And rolled into bed around 1:30 or 2:00 - see we could have waited and the pounding would have stopped. (NOT).

A have some hints on room keys and what to do if you have to have new ones, but that will wait for another day.

The end of the moving adventure is that we received a call the next morning (at a respectable time of 10:00) from Andy who was checking to see that all was well. I was not expecting this and it was a very nice touch.

Later in the cruise we were talking with some folks and their only negative comment was that they felt sorry for the folks on Deck 5 aft as they were walking there and the vibrations were unbelievable.

Remember in JURASSIC PARK the glass of water that had the drops form when the dinosaur walked by - that actually happened in 5180.

Have a great day all and I hope you can dig out of the snow soon.

Hey - I guessed right the first time - the question is "Where on the Ship are we NOW? " My answer was OFF!!! :rotfl2:

Yeah - I'm used to too many trick questions on tests...:rolleyes1 And I would hope the captain would have a map ;)-

Yikes - we're deck 5 - off to consult a deck plan to see where we are...

we're 5048, 5050, & 5052. It looks like we're above the theatres. 1st time across from stairs/elevators - we'll see how we like that

OK I'm ready for my guess. My guess is that you are in the Walt Disney Suite.

DING DING DING DING - ALMOST....BUT I'll give it to you..:banana:

Our T/A was gracious to offer a sunset reception in the Roy Suite. It is luxury at its finest. A huge verandah along with a spa/hot tub. Plus bedroom, kitchen/hallway, living room area, with small sitting niche, dining area. aaahhh....the life.

OK - so you win the prize for being OFF

I think Deck 5 above the threatres will be fine - even if there is some noise, it would be during the times you are likely not to be in the room and instead in the theatre or at dinner. We were orginially concerend about being on the same deck as the kids clubs, but other than having smiles when walking by (a plus) I had no issues with the clubs. The one day we spent on this deck, we did not even have traffic issues with the clubs - they are great.

Although I was not allowed in the clubs. Actually, I did ask, and they said fine, as long as they could scan the wrist bracelet --- :rotfl:

GaRRy - I snagged your TOP.

You know the minute I posted I realized I should have just said one of the Royal Suites instead of naming the Walt. :rotfl: I was just too lazy to go back and edit.

OK, I've been out of touch for a really long time, but had to see who had been on the Dream. We have no future cruise plans :sad2:, but I can always live vicariously through this group! We did Alaska in August of '09; couldn't wait for DCL to go. All of you planning to go on the Wonder, I envy you! I'm trying to talk DH into doing another cruise in the future, though, so will be stalking the blabbermouth thread off and on.

Irene, I had to run to see where our room is on the Fantasy. We are inside aft. Whew ... we're on deck 7.

Sandi, how are you, Larry & Caleb doing? What grade is Caleb in now? Hope you are all doing well.

We are doing well. Survived the ice and snow with only 2 days without power and only 8" or so of snow over 1/2" of ice! Caleb is a sophomore. Only 2 1/2 more years until graduation! You guys have had some nasty weather this winter!

Sandi - how great to see you posting here! I can't believe Caleb is a Sophomore already. My how time flies!

We wave at you guys every time we drive past on our way to Florida. Still remember the great lunch we had with you all at the Amish barn.

Are you on Facebook? Many of us are and keep in touch there too.

Good Morning - Sandi - glad to see you were lurking. And here is the next installment.

FYI - I keep losing my posts so I am going to send and edit. So if you pop in mid-narrative - sorry about that....

And it was a good morning on the ship after the very late night. The beds are super comfy.....We ended up in room 9030 and it is also a good location - close to the forward spa, adult pool area and cafe....but aft is nice for dining and the clubs. I think we have too many magnets for our little door.

Today was Nassau and the ship was just pulling into port. It was sortof gray and chilly. (No laughing if you are reading this stuck in snow.

Guess who we ran into? This is so cute, I had to post 2 shots. Ahhhhhhhh!!!!

The one thing lost in our room shuffle was the coffee carrier so we decided to head for a Latte before the gym -- this is the Vista Cafe on deck 4.

cea45507.jpg

And you can see that the ship is not crowded 100% of the time as you can see by the shot of Capt'n Donald. But from the look of his hat, Hedgie says Donald is an admiral and that would not go over well with Mickey would it? Have I said the ship is so pretty?

Since we booked a spa treatment - we also spent time in the Rain Forest today. Please do take the tour, it is so amazing. The Rain Forest has 4 showers, one cold mist (brrr), one volcano (the most popular today) and two others. Plus 3 rooms, two sauna and one steam. The dressing rooms ('scue - changing rooms) have a mint steam room - there is a nice large and relaxing waiting area to the starboard of the reception, a barber shop for the guys and the salon. The treatment rooms are on two decks - and the moziac tile work is so pretty. The loungers are facing the ocean and there are more of these heated beauties - the two hot tubs are outside the glass - I think we will know where to find Jim.

Lunch was at Cabanas

eae45b7a.jpg

And being tired, we did take the elevator at times. There was never a long wait for the elevator - except for the "normal times" and I did not notice a different with the time and that on the Wonder - Most of the time we took the stairs. We would be in good shape on a 7 day on the DREAM.

07ad1ca8.jpg

And the hallway art was fun. There is way to much to take pictures of and enjoy the cruise - One sketch as an example.

771aa195.jpg

And the last shot for a while. This was taken early in the morning before opening time. Sam and I think this is a huge opportunity for the little tots. We came back later when they were playing and some of the fish move around so you can squirt your brother or sister. It is a very large area and railed in with one opening and at least one lifeguard. Such a nice idea, keeps the little ones out of the pool as much and gives them their own spaces. Cudos for this improvement. (And no, I could not go in unless I had a tot with me..).
