Nightime. We went to bed after dinner - as it was late and I was tired. I had not posted but I was sick the week before and running out of steam.
We opened the door and a wonderful display by our cabin host greeted us:
When we pulled back the curtain, the couch had been made into a bunk - I expect they really give Hedgie the royal treatment if she gets a bed all to herself.
And then we realized we had walked into JURASSIC PARK!!!!!!!
Remember the Deck Plan - they have moved the clubs aft - and the clubs are on deck 4 - including the new non-Disney Evolution. One of our new favourite bartenders was explaining it is a civilian theme, no uniforms, no name badges and no sensitivity to the volume or pounding of the music.
MOST IMPORTANT TRAVEL HINT OF THEM ALL -
If you are booked on deck 5 aft - RUSH to the phone and book another room.
DO THIS NOW - DO NOT DELAY ANY FUTHRE. If we were given a cruise and had to be on Deck 5 aft we would decline unless we were allowed to sleep on deck. It is that bad. Curling into a fetal position is not a relaxing option. Some relief is gained by sleeping on the chair on the veranda, but it is a standard outside chair, not a lounge. I had a pillow for a while as I would not put foot back inside the room.
Granted I was tired, but I also could not turn off the light on the veranda. No one answered at guest services, No crew person in the hall could help me so I went to guest services at 12:30 at night - the line was out to the elevators. Eventually I got to speak to a very nice person, but he knew nothing either. He reported it and up I go to Jurassic Park (H**L) and the pounding is worse. It is not the noise as much as the pounding. I see my neighbor hauling luggage out the door - she has been moved. I turn around and go back to the desk - finally get near the front and Disney had two officers attempting to assist the line (no clue what the other issues were - one lady was trying to book the platinum tours...) Andy explained the ship was full. I understood but explained that my neighbor was moved and that I was really not happy and this was not aceptable. I expect it could have been avoided by going somewhere on the ship until 2:00 am, but the other clubs close at midnight. Perhaps a blanket Topside would work if it was not raining?
Another cabin was found and he sent a very nice (poor guy) Crew member with me to make sure it was ok before the moved us. We went up to Deck 9 - sweet. (not suite) but Deck 9 is sure nice. more about that later. I call Sam - and say we can be moved. Sam is by now not happy and not sleeping. And if you recall our luggage was late so we had not unpacked. This is a good thing. Disney had offered to let us sleep in the new room and they would help moving things the next day. That was very nice but we moved ourselves. And rolled into bed around 1:30 or 2:00 - see we could have waited and the pounding would have stopped. (NOT).
A have some hints on room keys and what to do if you have to have new ones, but that will wait for another day.
The end of the moving adventure is that we received a call the next morning (at a respectable time of 10:00) from Andy who was checking to see that all was well. I was not expecting this and it was a very nice touch.
Later in the cruise we were talking with some folks and their only negative comment was that they felt sorry for the folks on Deck 5 aft as they were walking there and the vibrations were unbelievable.
Remember in JURASSIC PARK the glass of water that had the drops form when the dinosaur walked by - that actually happened in 5180.
Have a great day all and I hope you can dig out of the snow soon.
