Going to a bachelorette party for a weekend. As the resident Disney expert, I'm tasked with a lot of the planning. Which suits me! lol.

Anyway, I sent the bride some restaurant choices, and she/we settled on Il Mulino. 1) Most people like Italian. 2) It has a wide range of price points, since it has pizza and pasta as well as entrees. 3) The MOB is a really picky eater (no fish, Asian, Mexican, etc.), and we thought she wouldn't like Ohana, Kona Cafe or Cape May Clambake.

Has anyone been? Seems like views on the dress code are mixed? I think I've actually been to one in VA since it's a chain. And I think it was good, if not special.

Oh, and we're not entering any parks, due to budget constraints, so that's why I'm only choosing from resort hotels.

Finally, if you have been there, ever ordered a special cake? The Disney website says to call the Disney cake hotline, but the Cake Chatter thread says to contact the restaurant directly . . . .

Our top 3 signatures are Bluezoo, Il Mulino, and Citricos. Il Mulino has great good and excellent service. Free limoncello after dinner is a nice touch as well. Enjoy!!

Il Mulino is our go-to romantic dinner spot while at WDW.

Our Ratings of Il Mulino: (7/15/2011)
. . . food price value: B
. . . food quality: A
. . . food quantity per serving: B
. . . food prep speed: B
. . . food selection: B
. . . seating quantity: B
. . . seating comfort: A
. . . eatery atmosphere: B
. . . eatery convenience: B
. . . staff friendliness: B
. . . staff attentiveness: A
. . . character interaction: n/a

NOTE: This is only one of five sit-down eateries we patronize
at WDW. The service is always exquisite and the food very good
to excellent. I want to feel important at a fine dinner, and IL Mulino
does this to their patrons. We felt the price-to-food/service ratio
to be of excellent value. We had two servers who kept our glasses
full and our needs always met. It is good to be pampered.

Dress code is mixed. Resort casual is the norm but we have seen very dressed and those in 'just back from the parks' attire. Although it is part of the Il Mulino chain, the one in the Swan is a Trattoria, a more casual venue than their New York type restaurant.

I would contact the restaurant directly. If you don't like or Il Mulino can't veer from their dessert menu, ask them if Hotel Catering can help you. The Swan/Dolphin have a world renown executive pastry chef, Laurent Branlard.

This is helpful... but now I am curious.... what are the other 4 sit downs you enjoy?? :thumbsup2

I did send an email to Il Mulino just the other day! It apparently went to corporate NY, but they already forwarded it on to Orlando. So that was good. Hopefully I'll hear back next week. Did not know about Chef Laurant though - that sounds like a great idea if this doesn't work.

The only sit-down restaurants we patronize at WDW are (in no order)
. . . Victoria & Albert's
. . . Shula's
. . . Artist Point
. . . Il Mulino
. . . Citricos

NOTE: Bistro de Paris used to be on the list. But, they changed
there service level, started to cater to kiddies, and downscaled
some food items (such as snails). It became an overpriced,
average, noisy eatery. Fortunately, Artist Point is making a HUGE
comeback in quality and service (to the "old days" of the 90's)
replaced Bistro for us; AP had gone downhill severely, but has
made an nice about-turn.

We went to Il Mulino on our last trip. It was raining while we were waiting for Illuminations. We decided to skip out since we had already seen Illuminations earlier in the week and walked over to Il Mulino. Anyway, we went in our park attire. While we felt a little underdressed, they treated us fine. It wasn't very busy since it was kind of late. There were a few other tables there that looked like they were parties similar to what you are suggesting - maybe wedding rehearsal dinners or something. People were in resort attire or dress pants and blouses.

The meal was great!!

Maggie
