Anyone else nervous about ike???? We are supposed to fly out Monday to dw. EWWW. Am I crazy for still wanting to go? Someone help me

We leave Wed morning for Disney. If at all possible we will do it.. so no you are not crazy lol!

We may try to pack up and leave on Monday.. I really just dont know we will watch him all weekend and then decide.

I live in Michigan and here we never have to worry about Hurricanes. I have been watching the weather channel and I am just more confused. If I pack my kids and head to Orlando are we going into the middle of strong winds and rain or just rain. :confused3 We can all handle rain. It rains everyday here (not really but it seems like it). I can handle carry ponchos and umbrellas and extra clothes, I can not handle taking my kids somewhere where it could be dangerous. I could just be looking at this to the extreme but I have never had to deal with this.

I really just dont know.. right now its looking like He will go around the tip of florida.. so if anything then it would just be some rains from the outer bands at the most.

BUT its just to early to tell where he will go, . There have been lots of folks at WDW for hurricanes and \ive heard them say its not a problem that they will shut the parks down for a day and then be back up and running the next.

Being from South Louisiana, Im not truly concerned about being there during storm.. just worried about getting there.
Orlando is at least an hour .. maybe 1.5 hrs from the closest beach I THINK.. so I just dont know how bad things can get there if Ike turns out to be really strong. If its looking like a Cat 4 or 5... Im sure we couldnt even get there and we wouldnt try.

I just dont know what we will do, After the last week with no power, i cant tell you how badly we need this vacation!!!

I am so sorry about the power thing. That sucks. Your post makes me feel better. If you were me would you still make the trip. We fly from mi monday am and leave orlando friday night. I am just so stupid when it comes to this stuff.

THanks

I would be there in a heartbeat BUT keep watching the weather . I think nothing of riding out a Cat. 2 or less.
Cat 3 i start getting freaked and CAT four or more hell no lol!!

I guess what needs to be known is just how bad that it can get.
Call your travel agent or the who ever and find out what it would cost to change every thing.
Disney will let you change plans in the event of a hurricane , but dont know the details of how it works.
I couldnt stomach the thought of looking that up right now, Ill do it tomorrow lol.
I just keep going with my plans of that we ARE GOING for now. Im gonna go start packing soon. Im tryin to be positive!

Ya know what sucks.. that this could go out in the gulf and hit Louisiana while we are gone ICKKKK... but at least we wont be here.
My husband is racing to do cleanup from Gustav and batten down the hatches so our house can be secure if it does hit.
At least I dont have to worry about losing all our food again.. since we already did lol
I did manage to save the frozen food and it wasnt much, you learn in hurricane season NOT to keep a full freezer.

SURE IS !

But as far as I understand .. with hurricanes WDW will let you move things around with no issue.

im holding on the phone with my travel agent trying to get our trip moved up a day im thinking it would be better for us to arrive on Tuesday then Wed.

Not really worried per se...we fly into MCO Monday 9/8...I don't think Ike will affect our flights in or out (Saturday 9/13.)
I'm a pretty positive/optomistic person and won't let
a little rain spoil my fun @Disney...the only thing that would upset me is if the parks shut down because of it...but from what I understand that is rare.
:umbrella:

I leave on Friday the 12th, and am hoping I miss everything all together. I hope everyone else does as well.

I just looked on the website and it looks like Ike will miss FL, but who knows, these things change there path all the time.

I don't think I will ever go during Hurricane season, this is just make me a nervous wreck :scared: One minute I am going, the next I am canceling, then I am going, etc. I am driving myself nuts. :rotfl: Does anyone think he will be gone by then?

we are arriving on Monday also.Im a lil bit nervous too.We don't deal with hurricanes here in Tn either.

gah! My daughter is TOO excited to miss this! We are supposed to fly down on Wednesday (the 10th - also my son's birthday) PLEASE PLEASE PLEASE work out!

We left WDW the evening that Faye arrived in Orlando.

They opened the 4 major parks an hour early that day, anticipating an early closure. (We had to leave at 3 pm to catch our flight, so I'm not sure whether or not they actually closed early.)

That last day was our BEST day!!!! There were maybe 300 people in the park at rope drop; we didn't wait more than 10 minutes for a single ride all day long. My kids rode Peter Pan twice in a row-- we didn't even have to go back through the line, just got into another car. We did the INdy Speedway 4 times that day-- that was the 10 minute wait. We didn't go onto Splash Mountain (didn't want to deal with wet clothes coming home) but when we passed it, it too had a 10 minute wait. We have pictures of Small World-- we were literally the only non-employees in the entire building!!!

If flying isn't safe, you won't be allowed to fly. So pack some flashlights (just in case) and snacks, along with some ponchos, and go have a wonderful time!!!

Well i see the turn Ike is making and woo hoo that is great for our trips!!

BUT i sure hope it doesnt hit Louisiana again!!!!!!

Oh well at least our house is already for the Ike if it does,
and maybe my house will be ok since Gustav already shook out all the loose limbs etc on all my trees.

I would like to come home to electricity.

We leave Thurs, so I am hoping we won't get anything. We are going to be there for such a short time.

OH my goodness!!!!!!!!!! I am soooo excited to go. I can not believe it is only 2 days away. I absoutly love Disney but then again doesn' everyone.:cool1:

Ike is now a category 2. woohoo. i know not to get to excited but that sounds like good news to me.
