I keep reading here on the MB that trading into DVC from II is very difficult. That II to DVC trades are in high demand. But then on the other hand I also keep reading about how it is also difficult to get good trades going the other way. That alot of the II properties are not up to DVC standards and that getting the trade you want can be difficult. Somehow to me, these two situations don't mesh. If II to DVC exchanges are in such high demand, I would think we as DVC owners would be in a sellers market and could basically get anything we want. Are the problems related to the arrangements DVC has with II or what?

IMHO (and it's probably not worth all that much) -

Those who own other desirable properties do not trade much using II.

My belief is that most of those who own the more desirable properties are quite knowledable regarding the trading systems and rules. They either do not trade much at all or do not trade much at all via II - they arrange direct exchanges privately. Thus the II inventory of desirable properties is small.

Best wishes -

Also, to trade through DVC, you are only offered a limited number of the total II properties. This is limited to the properties DVC thinks is on a more equal ground. As Carol said, those properties tend to be the more premium ones, so folks are also not as likely to trade out to them, just as we are not as likely to trade out of DVC.

Actually they mesh very well. First, assume that any top resort in a high demand area and season will be almost impossible to get. DVC is not that difficult if you can go off time, AAMOF, I will likely sell most of our points over time and take advantage as I can now go off time. Getting the top resorts during peak times is no different as well. Basically almost no one gives up top resorts during peak seasons. They either use, rent it privately or do private exchanges. Trading is done more in the middle and lower resorts than the top choices.

Some have the idea that Ii is just sitting there drooling for DVC to deposit, that is far from accurate.
