I checked my II exchange to Aruba Marriott on the Marriott website. DVC told me I was getting a studio, but the online reservation details show a two bedroom. I have called Marriott worldwide reservations to check and they also say that I am confirmed for a two bedroom.

Is this usual, and am I likely to get a two bedroom? I was only looking because I was going to ask if I could pay to upgrade to a one bedroom.

You will get what's on the confirmation. I'm confused as to where you saw the written info. Was this on the confirmation you got from II? That's really the only thing that will control what you get. I'm not sure where else you could see it online that would be directlly related to the exchange.

In general it's not that uncommon at lockoff resorts to get a larger unit that you request. Though a studio to a 2 BR is a pretty cool upgrade, esp for the points a studio costs. You can also call Marriott Owner services directly to put in requests using the 8 digit number that also begins with an 8.

Thanks Dean and Littlestar - I hope it is an upgrade. What happened was - on my original confirmation, there was a Marriott reservation number. I wanted to change the name on my reservation to my new married name, so I logged in with the reservation number on the Marriott site. It had details of my reservation and it said it was for a 2 bedroom.

If it is an upgrade, it would be a cool deal - otherwise, I suppose I could pay to upgrade when we arrive at the resort.

In all likelihood you'll get what's on the confirmation if it conflicts with the other info you have. But for some times of the year, an upgrade is not that unlikely. I doubt you can pay for an upgrade on arrival but you could ask for one and if you got it, it'd likely be free. Some times of the year it would not be unlikely, others it would be very unlikely.

First is to find out for certain what you have now. Either call the resort (expensive) or call Marriott VC and find out for sure. If you don't have the phone number on the confirmation for requests (Marriott customer service), email me directly and I may be able to help you out on this one. If that doesn't work out, here's something else you could do. It's called a retrade. You keep calling DVC and have them look on line. If a larger unit is there, you can substitute for it. You MIGHT have to pay another $75 fee. With DVC, you might also have to pay the extra points but with other II situations you would not have to pay anything at all other than sometimes an extra exchange fee.
