So, did you go to the Melvin the Moose show, or did you come across the kazoo by some other means?
Yep, the game arcade was in the Northeast corner of the Meadows Trading Post.
Yes the game room was where the clothing & toys are today. The deli was where the back cash register & coffee is now.
Yep, we went, after staying the night at the Fort with my aunt in her Wilderness Home. Though I think it was after the name changed to the Country Morning Jamboree. I would've been around 10 or 11 at the time. The chocolate chip muffins were the best thing ever. Besides the kazoo. After seeing your picture I got extra excited about my memory being confirmed & dug mine out of the hope chest.
I had autographs from the breakfast at one point, but those appear to be long gone. I think they were just on napkins.

Great job! I love the fact that you treasured this kazoo enough to put it in your hope chest. I hereby give you hero status (like KFM).
I will gladly deliver your Hero certificate and membership card, but first, I have a few more questions, if you don't mind:
1. What is your exact address?
2. What room do you keep the hope chest in?
3. Do you have any ferocious dogs or other animals on the premises?
4. Do you have an alarm system on your home?
5. If the answer to #4 is yes, could you please tell me the code?
6. During what hours of the day is your home typically vacant?
These questions are required by the U.S. Census, they will not be used for any other purpose. The Census people asked me to ask you since they are busy. So, please provide the information at your earliest convenience.
Thank you.

KFK- Sorry for the multiple posts, but there was something else I meant to mention, now that you are getting around to posting photos from the MK.
There is a great thread on another part of the Disboards where people post old photos from the parks.
KFM's photos will be a sure hit over there.
Here's a link in case you want to take a look:
Old Disney Park Photos
But don't forget about us campers over here.

TCD - I am glad to see you going to such extremes to get that kazoo for me.
Now, you mentioned earlier that you had hoped to find the remains of poor Melvin backstage at Pioneer Hall. I would not be surprised if he does in fact reside somewhere on the premises. Perhaps he is in that old saloon-looking building (that I still think would make an awesome counter service restaurant). Is anyone up to the task of getting in those backstage areas and trying to find Melvin, and maybe even freeing him from captivity?
So, let's officially start a "Free Melvin" campaign!

Hey wait a minute! Where's KFK's hero status....KFM would never have shown the love by scanning this stuff!
Don't fall for it ambertides! It's a trap! He's really after the kazoo. There isn't really a certificate OR membership card!![]()
Not to worry, multiple posts are ok by me! I have no intention at this time of posting more pics on another thread!Just doing all I can to keep up with this one.
I just happened to have that one w/the mouse on hand and decided to include it. Maybe one day when this thread is dead and gone I'll consider another one. (yes KFM's got lots of vintage park pics and vintage hotel pics.) I'm just having too much darn fun with you guys right now!
....unless of course I'm getting the boot.
Got more goodies coming in just a bit. I'm trying to keep it within the confines of Fort related stuff for the most part, but if there are any other points of interests, let me know. Gotta go scan!
I'm just sayin' that a lot of the FF's are rule followers, so they are dutifully ignoring this thread.
Did I miss the burger wrapper???
OK, Dave, it looks like it's you and me. Disney, let Melvin go!
Sorry, OF COURSE KFK gets Hero Status. Even if you don't have a kazoo. If I ever find the hidden stash, I'll get you one though. Now that you have warned Ambertides, it looks like that option is out. In fact, you should be awarded whatever title is above Hero Status. Since I'm not that cool, I don't know what that would be, but that is what you should be awarded.
Sounds good.
I'm just sayin' that a lot of the FF's are rule followers, so they are dutifully ignoring this thread. If you posted some old theme park photos on that other thread, you would have thousands of people appreciating them. I don't want you going over there yet, but just keep it in mind for the future.
Bring on the goodies . . .
TCD
There can't be TOO many people still ignoring it. The thread has almost reached 5,000 views!
Did I miss the burger wrapper???
Sorry I lost all that cool stuff of pointing and naming things in the divorce of my computer. But if you look in the background at his photo from the 70s there are totem pole that may look like the ones at FW. Maybe Disney moved them from MC to FW when they built Thunder Maintain?

Todd- Isn't Thunder Maintain at Typhone Lagone?
Sorry- I couldn't resist.
Got to love spell check.
Anyway, on another thread, in the not to distant past, I was involved in a totem pole discussion.
To make a long story short, those totem poles at the MK are still there.
Check out this post:
MK Totem Poles
So is that building that you see in your photo.
It just all looks so different because of Thunder Maintain.
Oh, and you and your computer got a divorce?
I'm sorry, I didn't know.

Yes Bit and Tron betted out Master Controller in the end. I was just a user
Sorry it is a Disney Tron reference. I had all of my programs on my computer thinking I was master controller. But when it crashed I found out I was just a user
Ah yes, I remember it well too. I had the same type camera when I visited the Fort the first time Christmas 1977. I actually found a few pics from that trip upstairs the other day...but nothing too great so I haven't bothered scanning them. Maybe I will at some point.Notice the little pocket camera with the flash bulb on top. That was the type of camera used by KFM during this time. I remember it well.
Yep! The HDDR began in the summer of 1974.I liked the RC pics on screen left and also the HDDR or did the HDDR even exist then?
I think that's an old Apache TT in that brochure. Anyone know for sure? Very cool! There is a DISer with an Apache that posts here.Ahhhhhh.....the good old days at the Fort!
