kimmar -- am I ignoring you taking your guys to the airport? Or am I ignoring the fact that they can't get out?
...long story short - my DS's friend took him to the airport yesterday [I was at the dentist having my broken filling fixed  !! ], around 4PM while his GF's parents drove HER. They were on Stand-By and were able to get a flight to Charlotte, NC at 9PM last night...flight left this AM at 7:30 and they are now on their way (via a ME bus!) to ASSp.... !!

OMG! THAT'S FANTASTIC!!!!!! :dance3: :cheer2: :cool2:

And you didn't have to leave the house this morning. :cool1:

Hope everything went well with the dentist.

Bacon flavored blizzard..... yep, I'm gonna ignore that.

Snap can have it if its bacon flavored.

...while you're at it, you might as well ignore that fact that my DS and his GF arrived SAFELY at MCO....

I'm ignoring that they are there instead of you and me, but I'll un-ignore for a moment to say, Whoo-Hoo!!!

Back to regularly scheduled ignoring.

Aw crap, his trip was canceled AND he lost his money  He usually buys trip insurance, but didn't this time because it's not hurricane season down there. He never thought about a storm UP HERE. The airline will give a refund, but he lost almost $1,000 on the scuba trip.

I feel so bad for him. He is not married and has been staying with my sister since my BIL died over a year ago. He has an apartment that he never uses :sad2: This is the one thing he looks forward to a couple of times a year. :sad2:

.......my DS has a MUCH happier ending...he and his GF were able to get out of EWR last night [9PM flt to Charlotte, NC]. They left there at 7:30 this AM and arrived at ASSp about 15 minutes ago. However, they are WA-A-A-AY overbooked, so he and his GF got bumped up to CS!!!

...and to think, almost 24 hrs ago, he was TOTALLY FREAKING OUT!

Aw Snap, that's horrible. I feel so bad for him. Sounds like he's having a rough time without his trip being cancelled.

I was freaking out for him. No need for everyone to be freaking out. Leave it to the professionals, like me. ;)

Maybe I have a small moment to be JEALOUS?????????

Lots of news here this morning, one good (kimmar), rest not so good. Snap, sorry to hear about your nephew's vacation and Kerrie, I hope DD is better soon. It does sound like an awful lot for a young girl to cope with all at one time.

Weather knocked our power out yesterday for several hours. Not cool when you are a food manufacturing company. Anyway, we had a hectic afternoon here yesterday as we were using our cell phones, in the dark, to call all of the second and third shift employees to cancel them coming in.

And my knees are killing me because I went around with a flashlight and crawled under everyone's desks to turn off their battery backup systems. I'm too old for work like that.

If it's not too late, he could try to ask them to reschedule it. We had two clients who didn't buy TI for T&CI trips - one at Beaches/one at the Tuscany - and I was able to reschedule for spring/summer instead of cancelling outright. Given the weather conditions, several of the wholesalers are even working with us instead of just the larger providers. SWA has been cancelling flights right & left at multiple airports even before the snow falls and I'm finding many of the travel providers we work with to be much more forgiving these last two weeks. It never hurts to ask...:goodvibes

DD20 has a non-refundable prepaid convention package in Wash DC this weekend. Hoping they agree to let her reschedule to save the $$ if we haven't been plowed by then. Ironically, I'd have more pull on this one if our agency was further away b/c then we'd likely book tourist travel in the area to give us some leverage...:sad2:

...yikes! :scared1:

I'm ignoring the fact that I'd like to kick my boss in the pants right now. Just got an announcement that we can leave at 2 p.m. due to the weather. He emails that he'll be in around 1:15 and we need to get a letter out today. A letter in response to a request that's been sitting around for at least a month. :headache:

Man -- that is tough. I hope Dancemom's suggestion works!

Ow, Pakey! That's not right.

I hope your son has good luck on this too!

PK -- that is just wrong. Why do they insist on doing that?

...ITA ~ I thought that Continental was gonna give my DS and his GF a hard time about changing their flight, but it turned out that they were VERY accomodating...not only was there no resceduling fee, but it wasn't a non-stop flight and the 2nd leg of the journey was on another carrier [USAir] - they didn't have to put up ANOTHER SINGLE DIME (however, they DID have to pay for their room at the Red Roof Inn in NC :confused3 )....now, they got a complimentary upgrade from ASSp to CS....doesn't get any better than THAT! The way their luck is going, they'd probably get picked to spend the night at Cindy's Castle! :faint:
(...I don't know if I mentioned it or not, but when the were told that the ASSp was overbooked, they also got a complimentary taxi to transfer their stuff to CS...now they are on the 3rd floor in Bldg of the Casitas in a corner room with a nice view of the lake!)
