Iger confirms DHS name change will happen

My guess is that the new name will be announced the same time that the formally announce the expansion plans. I think there's some event coming up in April that was expected to be when the announcement would come.

I just started calling the it the studios- it was tough dropping MGM. I feel old now.

This, whether serious or not, seems to be the most prudent. Encompasses all the current, new attractions/shows, and rumored things to come.

Robo's "Igerland" would be hilarious though

I'm just guessing, but since the removed the Big Hat so you can see the the Chinese Theater as you enter the park agian I imagine some combination of "Disney" and "Hollywood" will be part of the name, maybe "Disney's Hollywoodland" even

I dont like "disney's hollywood adventure". I hope they drop "hollywood" in the name altogether.
I agree. Keep Hollywood Blvd. Keep Sunset Blvd. But without a "studio" attached to the park, the whole "Hollywood" theme can go as far as I'm concerned. Hollywood can continue to be one of the "lands" with ToT and RnR. But it shouldn't color the whole park.

The original DCA park name in California was a political compromise (with the state and township) at the time.
Early in the time of planning, they had at one time been calling the new Anaheim park "Westcot."

With the recent (about 3 years ago) rebuilding of the DCA park, they changed the name from "Disney's California Adventure" over to the new (and current) name, "Disney California Adventure."
(No, I'm not kidding.)
Westcot? Sheesh.
Good info. Thanks.

I like the Hollywoodland idea! And while Star Wars and Pixar may not be set in Hollywood per se, they're still movies so it's still relevant.

Mgm/DHS is my favorite and always has been. I hope they don't do away with the movie/old Hollywood theming altogether. :(

Or.........

WESTCOT was going to be a really cool park - entirely different from what DCA eventually became. There would have been some similarities to EPCOT, but a very different experience at the same time.
The original centerpiece was going to be a 300-foot gold geosphere named "Spacestation Earth" - though the enclosed attraction wasn't going to have anything to do with the history of communication, so the parallels ended once you got inside.
I used to hang out at the Westcot preview center, and somewhere I have all the promotional brochures that they distributed to the local community. (Besides costing a bundle, Westcot also required a lot of local government approval, so they had to play nice and try to get the locals on their side.)

I am hoping for something basic... Disney Studios? Honestly, though, I'll be happy as long as it's nothing to do with FROZEN.

My guess is the announcement comes at the D23 Expo in August.

What's in a name?
