If you've stayed at WL

We used the boat every time, so I can't comment on the buses. But the boat was very quick and we were there at Christmas.

Transport from WL to MK

1) Speed:
. . . take the bus

2) Scenic:
. . . take the boat to MK

3) Adventuresome:
. . . take boat to Contemporary
. . . take monorail to MK

For kids, the boat ride in itself is a bonus ride to build excitment for the MK. We have stayed at WL for many years and have never taken the bus to MK.

the bus ride is about 5 minutes, the boat is about 15, we took the boat once but the rest of the time did the bus.

When we stayed at WL we took the boat. It was great and it wasnt crowded. But sometimes we took the boat to contemporary then the monorail to MK.(we like the monorail) also at night the boat is better than the bus because the boat has limited seating, where as (at least it seems like it) they'll let as many people on there as they can fit. That is sometimes way to many people. Also the boat is very relaxing way to unwind after a long day. I say do both at least once and see what you like. Everyone is different.

Didn't they just change it so that the bus does not go directly to MK, instead it goes to TTC?

We usually take the boat, that way we don't have to fold the stroller. It's usally pretty quick and love the scenic route. :goodvibes

Actually it is probably faster if you swim! The transportation at WL leaves a lot or room for improvement to say the least! LOL!

I was there last Dec and the Bus went direct to MK

do the boats always stop at the contemporary or is there a direct one to mk.

Our last trip boats went directly to MK some of the time. It was a gamble. I cannot remember if the had a sign that said direct or Cont. stops. I do remember on the way back it almost always stopped at Fort Wilderness.

I've stayed at the WL since it's opening. We've always taken the water launch to the MK. It is a lovely scenic way to reach the park. I have never taken the bus..as the water launch has always been readily accesible and we've never had any issues with it. In fact, we've never had any issues with any of the transportation at WL. No problems at all.

I agree with you!:thumbsup2
We've stayed there twice and have our third stay coming up in about 5 months. We always take the boat. I can't imagine choosing to ride a bus over one of the boats. We've never had an issue with waiting long, or it taking too much time. As far as I'm concerned, being able to hop on a boat to go directly there is part of the Disney fun.

I was there in Feb. and the bus went direct, but I believe in my last DVC newsletter it stated that the bus route changed and now buses go to TTC only.

I'll try to find the article and post it.

This is the blurb.
It was in the Spring DVC publication

Leaving the Lodge: Disney Transportation bus service from
Disney’s Wilderness Lodge now goes to the Transportation and
Ticket Center, rather than traveling directly to the Magic
Kingdom® Park. Boat service, however, continues to be available
to Disney’s Wilderness Lodge Guests traveling to the Magic
Kingdom Park.

Anybody been there recently that can confirm?

In the morning the boat will run FW - WL - MK - FW and then sometime in the afternoon the route will reverse to FW - MK - WL - FW.

There is a separate boat that runs in a loop from WL - CR - FW and also WL - FW - CR. These boats or launches are smaller than the boat that will run to MK.

As to the original post... when we last stayed at WL we always took the boat to MK. At that time there was no bus to the MK but there was one to the TTC. When going to Epcot we would take either the bus to the TTC or direct to Epcot... whichever came first since the travel time was about the same. On our trip this summer we will take the boat to the MK.

While we've only stayed there once, I can say that, like you, we had no problems with the WL transportation at all. We used the boat to and from the MK most of the time, but did take the direct bus for our pre-opening breakfast at Crystal Palace. That worked very well, too.

As for the busses to the other parks, we had no problems. We never had to wait for one more than a few minutes, and only sometimes made one stop (at Fort Wilderness) on the way. Busses back to WL were always direct.
