If you're going in Dec, are you putting up a tree?

We are going to WDW from 12/15 - 12/25. Several people have asked me if we're going to be putting up our Christmas tree at home since we'll be gone for all that time.

I'm thinking we will put it up. We have an artificial tree so I'm not worried about it getting too dry while we're gone. Plus, we usually put our tree up the day after Thanksgiving and take it down on New Year's Day so we'll still have plenty of time to enjoy it. Most of all, I think I would miss my ornaments if I didn't see them for 2 whole years!

Decorating the outside of the house will be another story. We have 3 reindeer, a train and family of snowmen that we put on the lawn. Last year, our things were "rearranged" by some stupid vandals. This year, I think we'll just put up the lights on the house and set the timer so they'll go on and off even while we're gone.

Has anyone else decided whether or not to decorate if they'll be gone for Christmas?

We are going Dec. 17-25.. Yes I 'm still putting up all of my tree's ( in fact we have one up now and another going up this week-end)also putting out our Christmas village..

I can't put up a tree inside the house because I am afraid it will dry up. I can't put up an artificial one because the cats chew on it. What to do, what to do?

Definitely doing inside decoration - artificial tree, but not any outside. I'd be scared to leave lights burning while I'm gone!

Years ago, my mom bought us a small tree that hangs on the wall (it is flat on the back). It was our first tree as a married couple - that was 14 yrs. ago - and we had (and still have cats). Cats never have tried to get it. I think she got it at Tuesday Morning. Maybe you could do an internet search to see if you could find one. It's really cute, but you can only put small ornaments on it.

Hope that helps!

We are not leaving until 12/23, so we will have plenty of time to enjoy it. I also am self-employed and host a semi-formal party in our home in December. So, I need to have the house in tip top shape (not to mention we just bought our first home in June :woohoo: ).

We put up 2 real trees. We are going to have my Aunt "babysit" the trees and we are not going to leave them plugged in while we are gone. I am still considering taking them down before we go but we are arriving home on 12/31 and having a get together that night.

I suppose I'll eventually have to make a decision.

Oh well. Not to bad of a decision to have to make. :dance3:

Yep. Inside and Outside. We're going December 14-23. I plan to do it right after Thanksgiving (maybe even the Monday before -- I'm off, kids in school). We're going to Greensboro for T-giving.

My husband's being deployed (National Guard) for 18 months November 18, and I want to make everything as "normal" as possible for the kids (AND to get them psyched for Disney, which we're doing even without DH).

I think it's so worth the effort if you've got kids. We keep everything up until after Epiphany (January 6).

Prayers for you and your family - thanks to DH for his willingness to serve!

We'll be in WDW from Dec. 20-28 (similar to last year). We'll put up our tree the day or so after Thanksgiving. Our decorations at home incorporate NOTHING Disney-ish; however, our resort room tree is the total opposite -- all things Disney!!!

Okay, I am feeling a little left out. What is being booed? How does it happen, what do you have to do? Who does it? Does it feel good?

we usually get real tree but this year we are going from 12/1-12/10 and we were going to put it up the weekend after we got back, but now found an artificial "just cut" tree at costco really cheap so I think we'll go that route.

You could put up one of those trendy upside down trees that hang from the ceiling :rotfl:

We are going 12/23 - 12/31 so we will not put a tree up at home...just the outside decorations and some indoors. I will put the lights on a timer so it looks like we are home and have the neighbor, who is babysitting the cats, make sure all is OK with the house.

I am going to decorate our room in Disney and put up a 2 - 3 foot tree... :thumbsup2

yes... for sure!

I am also taking a small one for our hotel room... we will be there 18-23

I thought we might take a small fake tree and use those home depot icons in red and black and decorate our tree! Just something small!

What do you guys think?

We will put up an artificial tree at home because Santa leaves the presents there and fills the stockings at Disney. Don't forget to take decorations for Disney! Our first Christmas trip I felt left out! Everyone had hung garland on their banners and strung lights. They had Christmas trees and stockings and anything you can think of! We stay at Wilderness Lodge, so I'm not sure what other resorts are like. My parens stayed at POP last Christmas and put up a tree and some garland in their room, but with no balcony, they just hung a wreath to the door with a suction cup holder.
:hourglass It's almost time to go to Disney again!!!
