If you're from Germany do you eat at Biergarten when visiting Epcot?

OK, I didn't know how to word that title! I've never been to Biergarten, and neither has the other 7 members of our traveling party this December. My dilemma is this: My grandmother is from Germany, and has raised us on German dishes our whole lives. I've never had sauerbraten and German potato salad made by anyone else but my grandma.

Should we avoid Biergarten? Or will it disappoint all the Germans in my family (including myself)?

I avoided Biergarten for about 10 years (not only am I German, I trained in the kitchen in Germany, and am a veggie)

Finally went when a friend dragged me there, and was pleasantly surprised. A lot of the dishes, including desserts, have been very Americanized, but there was enough to reflect the tastes of the original items. I enjoyed the salads and potatoes. Also enjoyed the pretzel bread, which is not German. Some dishes bear no relation to the original

The entertainment compares to tourist oriented shows put on in Bavaria and the Tirol, so wasn't really to my taste. (but believe it or not, in our small town the Maypole was raised outside our front door, and the beer garden was in our building parking lot every May Day, so I am very familiar with the 'authentic' version... :rolleyes1 )

And the Rudesheimer Kaffee was a fairly good fascimile of the original

I would also add that before they messed with Akershus, the cold buffet was more representative of what one would see on a hotel buffet in Germany. In fact on vacation last year in Bavaria, the resort offered a buffet every morning almost identical to the old Akershus cold buffet. And it was similar to the one we used to prepare in our restaurant where I trained

I would imagine it's not much different from a Canadian eating at Le Cellier, which we've done. The food was tasty, and nothing like we get at home. :lmao:
