I just saw this on www.allearsnet.com's Overlooked Attractions
of the Magic Kingdom and thought I'de share....

"If you're lucky enough to be celebrating your big day in the Magic Kingdom, a delightful treat awaits you. Stop in at City Hall to pick up a special Birthday Button that reads "Today is my birthday!" You'll be surprised at the extra special attention it gets you."

cool !!!

I miss it, I am going 2 weeks after my bday..... but I hope someone can do this and report back to us !!!!

Actually, you can get a birthday button at each of the four parks. When we have gotten them, we've gotten tons of Happy Birthday's from CMs, guests, just about everyone. When I wear the Happy Birthday Cake hat, I get tons of happy birthdays.

A few times we have gotten a free drink or something else - not much more than that, but it was still nice.

We did it back in May for DD's 3rd birthday. It was so cute to see the CMs telling her "happy birthday!", plus, at the sit-down restaurants, she got free desserts and the waiters/waitresses sang to her :D

Oh yeah (edit here), if you do eat at a sit-down place, be sure to tell them that there's a birthday in your group. They'll "decorate" one place at the table with Mickey confetti! Very cute ::yes::

If you have a dining reservation let them know about the birthday. We went to Whispering Canyon Cafe for my daughters 18th birthday. They not only brought her a cake but they had all men 18 and un
der stand around our table and sing Happy Birthday.

What if it's almost their birthday. We will be leaving 2 days before my son's 7th birthday and I know he'd enjoy the birthday magic. Is it OK to celebrate a few days early?
Also are the buttons from each park the same, if they are different we may want to get them each place when we parkhop.
Thanks

kccmommy, I don't think there will be a problem. They don't ask for i.d. or anything like that, so I say go for it! Your son will love it :D

When we celebrated my dd's birthday, all the cms made such a fuss over her (she was turning 6). They had goofy calling her all over the park (they dial a special number and give the phone to the child and goofy has a happy birthday saying). When we were on Splash Mountain, they had everyone sing Happy Birthday to her and let us go on twice without getting out of the log (that was sooo special for her). She got a free lollipop at the candy shop, bumps up to the front of the lines, a free plush from a cm at the winnie the pooh gift shop, special trading pins, etc. A very memorable trip for sure. Oh- and at CRT she got a birthday card signed by all the princesses and a cupcake with a candle.

You do get some extra attention, usually, but DON"T go planning on it! You could be disappointed. Both of my children celebrated a bday during our last trip. They both wore the buttons ALL DAY! Other than our pre-planned birthday meals (DD's was bkfst at Cindy's and DS's was dinner with Chef Mickey), we got very little extra attention. ACtually, the neatest thing was PUSH the talking trash can approached my DD at the exit to the Buzz LIghtyear ride and told her happy birthday and he actually even acurately guessed her age! She was amazed! Anyhow, while a few of the previously mentioned birthday "perks" would have been nice, we didn't expect anything, so we weren't disappointed. We just enjoyed being in our favorite place!!.....P

I'm going on my Birthday!!! So excited. My b-day is Nov. 1 and we usually go down that week for Jersey week. Well, every darned year I spend my B-day in the car with 3 kids driving down, eating crappy food, sitting for a loooonnggg drive. But there is a beautiful light at the end of that tunnel, so I never mind.

This year Jersey week is early so we will already be there. We are going to the halloween party on the 31st, YEAH, and the next day on my b-day we will be dining at CP, enjoying MK. Now that is a birthday! LOL!!!

I can't wait!

That's so funny! My birthday is the 2nd and we are going down for Jersey week too and have tickets for Halloween night On Nov. 1st I am doing the backstage magic tour then eating at Chef Mickey's...can't wait! Then we will be in the MK on my birthday and will have to get one of those pins!

You can also get a birthday pin from downtown disney from guest relations

The button at AK has the AK colors on it - brown, green, etc. The MK button has a castle on it. The Epcot button is rectangular and has Happy Birthday in different languages. We got the MK button at Disney Studios, so I'm not sure if they have a different one.

I also have a 11-01 b-day, unfortunatly, I will not be at WDW for it. But, I am trying to sneak in a trip to DL (Ca.)! We have AP's, so maybe I can do a super budget b-day trip!:sunny:
