If your 5-year-old had to choose just ONE attraction at Epcot...

...which would it be??

  • Spaceship Earth

  • Ellen's Energy Adventure

  • The Living Seas

  • Living With the Land

  • Journey Into Imagination

...which would it be??

(We will only be in Future World for 35-40 minutes before heading to Norway's Restaurant Akershus for our 10:00am PS. After breakfast we plan to explore World Showcase for a few hours then take the boat over to MGM, so we will not be going back into Future World at all, and are having trouble deciding which ONE attraction to see while we are there.)

I just asked DS, 4 1/2 and gave him your choices. We just got back Sunday so I hoped these things would be fresh in his mind(although we didnt do SSE this time, we did it in Dec).
He picked Journey Into Your Imagination. Ironically when we were going on it he decided he didnt want to go because of the "stinky skunk". I had forgotten about that but he didnt. We got him on it though and he was fine with it. I guess he liked it in the end because he picked that as his favorite out of your choices.
I then saw the above response and asked him if he would rather go on Test Track over Imagination and he said yes. So TT is his first choice, Imagination is second, but first out of your options. I should add, my 7 1/2 yo rode TT last year and wont go back on. Go figure!

From your list, definitely JII, but not on your list....test track followed by Maelstrom.

When my DS was five, TT was his favorite. However, depending on the time of year you might not be able to get through the line and the ride in the 30-40 minutes you have. Same problem might apply to Spaceship Earth, although it's less likely.

Someone mentioned Maelstrom, but that's in WS and you can catch it as you explore that area after breakfast. It won't open until 11:00 a.m. anyway.

Test Track wasn't in the options because she vetoed that one right off the bat after watching a video clip of it, lol. She's not a fan of fast, jerky rides. ;)

6 yr DD votes for TT too. It really is not jerky, and the only fast part is the outside part. IMHO if she can handle riding in a car at 55 MPH she should be able to ride TT without problem.

If this wasn't the first park day of our trip, I would probably try to talk her into going on TT, but as it works out this will be the very first ride of our vacation, so I don't want it to be something I have to talk her into going on, especially if she ends up hating it, lol.

I'd vote for Journey into Imagination or the Living Seas. My DD was 4-1/2 when we last went to Epcot. She rode Test Track, but hated it. She got off saying, "We shouldn't have done that." She has already vetoed it for our trip in Oct, two years after the fact. She loved JII & still talks about Figment. She didn't like the stinky part, tho. She enjoyed the Living Seas. However, if you live near an aquarium, it's not much different. We live 1-1/2 hours from two different big aquariums, so I don't know if we'll do LS this time.

Journey into Imagination was great! We'd somehow always missed this before but we tried it in March. DD, 13, and I LOVED it. It will be a very nice initiation for the first ride. Figment rocks!

When my DD was 5, her favorite was Test Track. Now it's Mission Space (she's 6).

Our 5 year old DD's opinions (in her own words) of the polled attractions-

Spaceship Earth- "Wow! Cool!" Loved the ending in the night sky.

Ellens Energy Adventure-"Too long. Those dinosaurs were too scary!" The filmed parts were boring to her, and the dinosaurs were too intense.

Living Seas- "Fun, but Dad liked it better. We can go see fish anytime." Dad is an aquarium fan, and we have been to 4 or 5 in different cities in the last year.

Living with the Land- "The boat was fun, but all the talking was boring." I think the adults liked this one more than the kids.

Journey Into Imagination- "I love Figment! It is so fun!" Cute story. fun ride.

Our vote ges to JII with a close second place to SE.:wave2:

It's not in your choices, but I would say test track.

I agree. My DD, almost 7, has been to Disney way more times than she deserves :) - just kidding, but Test Track is absolutely the only thing she wants to do at Epcot. We're doing the same as you in October. We're doing the Princess Breakfast, then riding Test Track, grab a drink from Ice Station Cool, then hitting the monorail to MK. She's done all of the ones on your poll - completely not interested in any of them.

I said Journey into the Imagination. I was going to say Living Seas, but then I saw that your PS is at 10 a.m. The Nemo character comes outside at 10 a.m. for 15 minute increments, so it will be out later in the day. If your daughter likes Nemo, make sure you check out the Nemo room.

My son didn't want to go on Test Track either after he saw it on the video, but he did fine on Tower of Terror. What is in that video?

I would recommend going on Spaceship Earth in the afternoon--NO LINE! I haven't been on the Energy or Land rides, so can't say much about them.

My 5 year old loves
Test track
Ellens Energy Adventure (too long for your time constraints)
Spaceship Earth
Journey into Imaginataion

In that order.

She also loves the mexico ride.

Innoventions might be a good choice. No rides but you can roam around until you need to catch your PS

I just asked my 5 yo DD and she said JIYI. BTW, she also loves test track.

:sunny:

My 5yr DD loves Spaceship Earth, Test track and Ice station cool. She was scared on Maelstrom, journey to imagination.
The Living Seas with a 5yr old can turn into an hour attraction. At least with my 5yr old.
