We aren't leaving till Sept 15th so althought the hurricane will be gone the aftermath would still be there.

Would you still plan on going???

We have been looking forward to this trip and have decided to pack extra water bottles in case water is hard to find. If we decide to go what other precautions would you take.

Thanks

I am also leaving on the 15th. Although I have no idea what kind of damage they may incur, I am confident that Disney will have things up and running by then. They simply cannot afford to have the parks down that long. And almost everything (except some trees and FWC) was back to normal the day after they closed for Charley. I am definitely crossing my fingers on this one..I'm sure they will have water available-if water is a problem, I don't see how they could even open the parks. I think if there were precautions to take, either they wouldn't be open, or I would stay home..

Now if another hurricane decides to come along before I leave, that's another story.

We are leaving Sept 17, and all are systems are go. Granted, I grew up on Gulf Coast, and can count on two hands how many hurricanes we have weathered. I agree with the previous poster, I cannot imagine WDW being closed over a week unless there was significant damage, which of course we would cancel at that point.

Our prayers are with all of you down there, I am still praying for it to go out to sea. it can change on a dime, anyone out there remember Elena on Labor Day mid 80's? It stopped, backed up, and reversed directions not once, but twice! you never know until hours before it hits....

Praying for everyone's safety...

We are leaving on the 18th. I am not canceling now. There is still plenty of time to see what this storm is going to do.

Please don't cancel your trips. The parks should be running as close to normal as possible by the time you arrive.

we are going on the 22nd- It didn't even cross my mind to cancel.

Disney will be opened- they are equipped to get things cleaned up and running.

don't cancel-- go and just make the best of whatever happens. you can be down there when another storm comes- it is the risks we take for going in Sept- beating the crowds but dealing with the weather.
POSITIVE THOUGHTS PEOPLE PLEASE POSITIVE THOUGHTS!!!!!

After hearing from so many people what an amazing job Disney ans the CMs did after Charlie, I just can't imagine the 15th or so being a problem. This sounds like it is going to be worse - but I think they are so well prepared there - it won't be much different as far as their procedures. I'm sure the airports will be taken care of as well by then. I'll bet you still have a great vacation!

I'm leaving on the 12th and I'm not planning on cancelling unless absolutely necessary. With the Night of Joy concerts scheduled for next weekend I bet WDW CM's will be on double duty to clean up the mess this storms going to leave. If I have to push my trip back a week I guess I'll see all you guys there.

Please pray that everyone weathers this storm regardless of where it hits.

Charlie

Definitely plan on coming down to Disney by September 15th. I'm guessing that they'll close the parks this Saturday and probably Sunday and re-open on Labor Day. Things may be a little slow getting up to speed next week, but you'll be fine coming by the middle of next week! Oh, BTW , I live in Orlando...

I have seen some folks talking about flying/driving in here tomorrow and Saturday....that's crazy. And the airport will be closed and you'll be stuck in your hotel room. The hotels will be packed this weekendd with Floridians fleeing the coast.

we are scheduled to be there sept. 11-18.
i hope everything will be OK to still go.
i know no one can predict exactly what will happen, but i don't think i can reschedule to another time due to work schedules, etc.

plus what happens if you book during a specific time to get a specific rate and then you have to reschedule? do you get the same rate?

(i'm booked under the 5+2 special for september)

We'll be arriving on the 11th. Wild horses (or 145 knot winds) couldn't keep me away!

We're leaving for FL on the 10th (dh has a conference) and then we move over to WDW on the 15th.

I'm thinking positive & assuming everything will be up & running by then. I won't cancel unless another storm comes up. And, given what's happened already, I'm thinking the odds are in our favor that it will be a while before FL sees another storm. At least that's what I'm hoping!!

We're leaving the 17th driving and aren't thinking about cancelling either. One thing we are going to do is load the trunk up w/ pet food from Costco and drop it off at one of the shelters down there.

WDW will be good as new by then. Their recovery efforts are outstanding!

Have Fun!

We still plan to go and we leave on the 13th. We booked our hotel through priceline so we can't cancel. I wonder what their policy is if you can't get there due to hurricane? Prayers are with all Floridians these next few days.

We are planning on coming the 11th to the 19th. Let's hope
Frances is gone up here so we can get out!!!

I need my Mickey fix!

We're in Miami & have no plans to cancel (unless we have absolutely no choice whatsover) our 9/11 - 9/19 trip. Need something to be hopeful about right now :grouphug:

There's no way I am going to cancel...unless there is no a.c. Disney will want me to come and spend some coinage...and I will be happy to oblige!::MickeyMo

How about the 7th or 8th????

We cancelled the first half of our trip which was going to be in Daytona Beach and I'm still holding out hope for the last half at Disney, although I sure don't want to be a senseless extra car on the road when people are trying to get back home after evacuating.

Would you leave it in the hands of Disney...if they're open and operating and they aren't offering cancellations without penalites, then go????

I agree with jpd3...we are arriving on the 9th and NOTHING will keep us away...we booked this vacation 5 months ago and its finally here:cool: I believe disney will be up and running just fine by the 9th...see you all in 7 days:earseek: :chat: princess:
