First of all everyone on the WISH teams are heroes to me. You guys rock.:cool1:

When ever you see one of the sports heroes, like Lance, Dean, Denna, Paula, the list is endless, in an advertisement, they always have an inspirational quote. So if you were approached by Nike or Cliff Bar or Runner's World and asked to be in an advertisement, what would your bit of motivational advice be?

Mine of course would be "Dare to dream". What would your's be? You never know, a lot of you are doing some amazing things, one day they just might be knocking on your door. Someone like Cruella De Mom, who is so giving to the TnT, her own racing and raising a family sure deserves a shot right now.

Don't be shy, share something that means something to you.

One of my favorite sayings (also my daughters favorite when she was a teen) is 'Whether you think you can, or think you can't, either way you're right." :)

Yes that is so true. Thank you SamSam for contributing.

The amazing thing is not that I finished, it's that I had the courage to start.

***not a direct quote, but from the Penquin!

Beth

A quote I read, which I think was attributed to Ghandi, and it just stuck with me was "Live like you'll die tomorrow, Learn like you'll live forever."

Terri

Thank you Terri and Beth, both quotes were wonderfull. Beth that quote from John is one of my favorites also. Terri, I had not heard that one before, very good advice there.

One of my favorite quotes is D.H. Lawrence's "I want to live my life so that my nights are not full of regrets."

But lest you think I've just gotten all sappy & sentimental, :upsidedow I also love almost everything Oscar Wilde says. This is another fave: "We are all in the gutter, but some of us are looking at the stars."

I like that Debra, I have spent some time in the gutter, usually after a long night of beer and fun at DisneyWorld. Who's stupid idea was it to make skinny dipping illegal at the Epcot lake anyway?

I'm sorry to ask this question wise panda, but what is "YARC"?:confused3

Darlin, there is an old expression for being a little bit different, "You ain't right", like some say "He has a screw loose", or "The lights are on but no one is home".

Well we are different, we aren't satisfied with sitting on the couch and watching the world go by. We want to be participants and not just spectators. We are part of the less than one percent of the population that goes out and seeks adventure and we want to find out who we really are, our fears and our limits. Then we want to face those fears and exceed those limits.

So most of us are members in good standing of the "YARC", The You Ain't Right Club. Our Queen is Judy:snooty: the HonieBee. I'm the poster child of the "YARC".pirate: We have our royalty, the pretty princessesprincess: We have our piratespirate: Together we are the WISH, we laugh and hug way to much. When we gather, we share our strength and courage because we are usually getting ready to go to war with the baddest of distances.

Awww, that is so sweet of you to think of me! :cloud9: I think my piece of advice is actually an indirect quote from Eleanor Roosevelt.

Do what you think is impossible and then nothing will be impossible.

I think there are many members of the WISH team that should not be able to run or walk a half or full marathon. But they do it. They do it and then KNOW that they can do anything they set out to do. Thats why the medal has so much meaning, especially to the people at the back of the pack. It is tangible proof of the impossible.

I like "run hard, be strong, think big" -Percy Cerulty. I am also a huge fan of the Eleanor Roosevelt quote.

Here is another that we should all live by:

"I have met my hero, and he is me." -George Sheehan

To me, everyone on this board is a hero, an inspiration, a reason to keep going and that the true prize is my health, not winning a race. Thank you WISH and thank you oh wise and wonderful Panda. :worship:

Was it also Eleanor Roosevelt that said, "Do something everyday that scares you"

Is a bright guy.

When I would say something like "I can't" he would respond "Can't never did nothing".

Or when I would say something else negative like that, he would often respond...and I quote, but its a long one

"Somebody said that it couldn't be done,
but he with a chuckle replied
that I won't be one to say that is so
until I cab give it a try.

So he buckled right in
with a trace of a grin
if he had a worry
he hid it.

He started to sing
as he tackled that thing
that couldn't be done...
and he did it!"

Here's one, "Keep moving forward," Walt Disney. "Move your a%# faster," Parris Island Drill Instructors!:lmao: This is also another good DI quote that is a little more clean that I think applies to the WISH team, "Nobody ever drowned in sweat!"

Great thread!

My motovation comes from the song "Dare You to Move" by Switchfoot. When I thought I hit rock bottom after my Mom passed in December, the words sang to me. I play it everytime I'm on the treadmill so I move alittle faster. So I guess my quote would be "I dare you to move, I dare you to lift yourself up off the floor, I dare you to move, like today never happened."

Welcome to the planet
Welcome to existence
Everyone's here
Everyone's here
Everybody's watching you now
Everybody waits for you now
What happens next?
What happens next?

I dare you to move
I dare you to move
I dare you to lift yourself up off the floor
I dare you to move
I dare you to move
Like today never happened
Today never happened before

Welcome to the fallout
Welcome to resistance
The tension is here
The tension is here
Between who you are and who you could be
Between how it is and how it should be

I dare you to move
I dare you to move
I dare you to lift yourself up off the floor
I dare you to move
I dare you to move
Like today never happened
Today never happened

Maybe redemption has stories to tell
Maybe forgiveness is right where you fell
Where can you run to escape from yourself?
Where you gonna go?
Where you gonna go?
Salvation is here

I dare you to move
I dare you to move
I dare you to lift yourself up off the floor
I dare you to move
I dare you to move
Like today never happened
Today never happened
Today never happened
Today never happened before

Suzanne thank you for sharing that. One of my favorite songs is by Cake and is called "Going the Distance". It's about a guy who is running so slow the rest of the racers are done and gone. But this guy is still burning and churning and hugging the curves, he's going the distance.

Ed, you hear a lot of good motivational stuff from the DI's. "Pain is only weakness leaving the body" is a classic.

Panda - You will get a kick out of the movie "run fatboy run" Its not one of those inspirational movies but it does have some heart to it.

We saw it on tuesday and loved it. Very good "Feel Good" movie. I reccommend it for everyone who needs a good laugh and a motivation boost.
