If you were taking a first-timer, where would you go?

DH and I have been to WDW several times but my BFF and her DH are going with us this trip and have never been. We have our fave places but I wanted some others input. What restaurant would you want to take someone that hasn't been to WDW before?

My BFF has been once--before the Studios and AK were around. Her DH has never been. They are joining us for our 25th wedding anniversary trip in September for free dining. We picked our three must-do's (Crystal Palace, LeCellier and Mama Melrose). We are also taking them to Fulton's--even though not on the dining plan--for our special 25th anniversary dinner. We then gave them a book of Disney restaurants and let them pick. It's funny...they actually picked some of our other favorites: Rose and Crown and Plaza. They also wanted to try Yak & Yeti and Boma which we also wanted to try this year...so it worked out well.

Chef Mickey's.

Went my first time 1999. Took my sister and her husband 2000. Going again this year with my niece and my neighbours. We have the free DDP, but if we didn't I would still go to CM.

We only did one table meal our first trip. It was before we discovered the convience of the DDP. It was Chef Mickeys. We did have small children at the time, but I think that would have been it for us even without the kids. Just something about eating with Mickey and Minnie and the rest of the gang to really immerse you in the Disney spirit. Character meals are fun for guests of all ages, not just the kids. I figure that even after the kids are long gone we'll still do at least one character meal per trip.

I agree, Chef Mickey's would be my first choice. That way they get all the main characters in one shot! Also I like the atmosphere and the parmesan mashed potatoes are out of this world! :)

Chef Mickey's, Kona, Crystal Palace, Ohana, Rose and Crown, and maybe Hoop Dee Doo?

If I were an adult party, I'd suggest Sci Fi Dine Inn for lunch. The atmosphere is great and so are the burgers and onion rings. It's just a fun, fun place with no characters and it's quiet.

Crystal Palace 8:05 breakfast
Ohana dinner
Grand Floridian Afternoon Tea
50's Prime Time
Beirgarten

A few that we really like are Chef Mickey's, Kona, Cape May Clambake, and Ohana dinner :).

Chef Mickey's for a first night's meal
Crystal Palace 8:00am to get some great pictures in front of the castle
Boma
Sci-Fi for lunch (food's not great, but cool atmosphere)
CRT (everyone needs to eat in the castle at least once)
California Grill for the view and to watch Wishes
Narcoosee for Wishes and the Electrical Water pageant +great food
Tepan Edo or Marakesh for atmosphere
Biergarten
Coral Reef-cool atmosphere--ask for a tank side table
Raglan Road
Flying Fish

I would want them to "experience/taste" a little bit of everything, so, I'd pick restaurants for the...

FUN - a character buffet.
FINER DINING - Narcoossee's, Bistro de Paris, etc.
ATMOSPHERE - Coral Reef, Si-Fi Dine-In, or a romantic atmosphere.
FOOD - Pick wherever you think has the best meal.
UNIQUE TO DISNEY EXPERIENCE - California Grill, schedule to watch Wishes. or CRT, etc.

Also, a resort restaurant is a great way to show them a little more of the World.

Depends on what you want them to see. For fine dining, Cali Grill is great. If it's allout madness you want take them to WCC. If it were me taking friends for the first time I would try Yachtsman, Cali Grill or Le Cellier. Sci fi is great but you can't chat much over a meal as you are in the cars.
