Did you still enjoy yourselves as much?

We are debating when to go, at first it was a firm go in May next year, no changes but some things are going on and we might change the trip to the first week or two of December.

I'm familiar with December weather in FL and how fickle it can be. We are counting on it being chilly and hoping for better. We were miserable at the State Fair in Feb. when it was cold, so we know what it's like to walk around all day in the chilly weather. 50 isn't so bad until you stand in it for awhile!

So how is it when it's colder? I see pros and cons to both times of year, it would be nice not to worry about my ds in the heat (he has trouble regulating his body temp so we have to be very proactive in warm weather,) and it would be nice not to carry around as much ice and water for him.

But if it's too cold that means skipping water rides or less hours the park is open but it's a big difference in hotel prices, much cheaper to go. (we are staying on site, no question) If it matters any, my husband hasn't gone since the 90s and the kids and I have never been so I'm not really familiar with how open things are in the park.

We went in January, and it was freezing. Crowds were low because of it, which I loved, but the Hulk did not open until around 11:30 because of the temperature. Had to get up to a certain temp first (I forget what that temp was). Other than waiting for that ride to open, I loved it in the cold. No ocals were there, and few tourists. Walked on to everything...except RipRideRocket. We waited about 20 minutes for that.

We went last year during Spring Break and the temperatures were in the 20s and 30s some days. We had a good time, but some rides we not feasible. We put on coats and rode rides.

We had a better time at US. It was mostly indoors.

Oh, and when it was in the 40s and 50s, I saw folks riding water rides.:scared1: It was quite entertaining to see people with no issues being cold at all.

But we had a good time. It was fun.

That would have been us! :thumbsup2 Well, not literally, but a couple of years ago we went to WDW in December and it was quite chilly by Florida standards. We saw people walking around in their winter coats, and there we were in shorts and t-shirts riding Kali River rapids over and over again. No lines! Whee! :cool1:

I love being Canadian.

:scared1: That is too cold!! We are all cold wimps now that we have lived in the south for too long. I remember when 30 in December felt good :rotfl:

We were there this past January, and it was pretty cold (we were in FL for WDW marathon weekend, where it snowed at the Start). I really like the lower crowds and we were prepared with the proper attire, including gloves. There were a couple of days the hotel pool (RPR) was closed because of the temperature. I did see people on the water rides. We had on fleeces and were fine -- there were some people in full winter gear, including boots -- and some people riding Dudley Do Right in swimsuits -- that was entertaining for me the dichotomy I could literally see just standing on the Dudley bridge.

We did still enjoy ourselves as much, we just focused on the non-water rides and attractions. It was still warmer than at home (ok, barely some days), and at least having the sunshine made us feel like we'd had a nice break from winter.

I went around 10-15 days during the cold weather (between the end of January - March). With the wind chill, I found it chilly for me. Then again, I've lived here all my life, so even a bit of cold is freezing to me.

It's bearable if you don't mind skipping water rides. Just have to make sure you don't get too cold!

We went in November '08 & it was colder in Orlando than it was in Delaware. Mornings were between 32-35F, daytime got up to upper 50s, & temps dropped again in the evenings. Luckily, DH threw hats & gloves in a bag when packing so the kids were prepared. Crowds were low, holiday decorations were up, & we had an absolute blast.

We were there 12/29/09 and bought a couple of nice Universal sweatshirts :-)

We had a great time. It was just very cold with out the sun like in the mornings and evenings.

Room was ready at 7 am...crowds were manageable

We did the Jurassic Park ride but no other water rides. There were some more adventurous people that were riding the falls and the barge.

I am really interested in the weather at this time also.we will be there
12 days starting thanksgiving day.I know it will be busy the first weekend we
are there but I was hopeful of not freezing.how does it run in early dec?

I don't know about Dec., but we were there for Thanksgiving 2009, and it was too cold for ds12 to brave the pool or any water rides -- and trust me, that's fairly cold. I think it varies from year to year, and you should just plan to do water things as a bonus, with an emphasis on the other rides and attractions, and be prepared with gloves and a fleece at the least for the evenings. It was great to be out at night (dark comes early), and see things all lit up. You want to be comfortable to see everything, though!

Average is lows in the 50s and 60s and high of about 70s. If they get an unseasonable cold snap like last year it can be even colder. Mornings and evening is going to be much colder than around 3pm. If you are from a very cold climate, I'm sure it feels good but if you are used to warmer temps,50 or 60 walking around all day feels cold!

December is warmer than Jan or Feb if they are having a cold winter. Otherwise Feb. is usually really nice. We always go to FL in Feb. if we can and this past year was the first time in a long time we froze our behinds off.

I suggest packing sweatshirts and shorts. I have never tried any theme park in the cold months so I wasn't sure how that experience would be but the weather in Dec. is definitely something you can't predict. It can be beautiful or cold.
