If you wear a lanyard, do you use pin locks?

Locking pins you put on your lanyard

  • Yes I lock them because I feel they are much more safe like that.

  • No I don't lock them because I always trade pins off my lanyard.

For those who wear lanyards with pins I was wondering do you use pin locks to keep them on your lanyard, or do you use the standard pin backs that come with your pins when you purchase them? On my lanyard I wear 14 of my favorite pins so those are ones which I won't trade, so because of that I lock them with pin locks and I feel they are much safer with them.

I do both. I lock the pins I want to keep, so I don't accidentally trade them. I don't lock the ones I want to trade.

Ditto... Some do have locks; most don't.

I lock the special ones, like the AP pins that I purchase specifically to keep. We also lock DS's "keepers" because his have more of a tendency to fall off. I guess because he is so fidgety he works the backs off of the pins?:confused3

I don't bother locking pins I am going to trade.

I don't use pin locks, but then again, I try to keep only traders on my lanyard. My motherinlaw uses them-she doesn't trade pins, more like collect them-if she wants to trade she usually borrows a pin from me :)
But they make sense if you wear pins that are important to you on your lanyard.

I only keep the ones I'm going trade on my lanyard. I put the "keepers" in my bag so they don't weigh me down/get lost.

Though I've lost maybe 2 in my last two trips, to me it isn't worth it to spend the money to get the locks, then figure out how to use them.

Just got pin locks last trip for my "keepers". Don't use them on traders.

I don't even own any lockable ones. I have over 500 pins in my books, and probably the same to trade. Pins to trade only ever leave my house over here in England, so I'm thinking the lockable ones would be too much hard work. If anyone could PM me pictures of it in use? Never got too close to one.. lol :)

i use them for my keepers and don't on my traders...i just take my lanyard off when going on a ride so I don't loose them....i have lost ones traded before though when the rubber keepers were old ones....

Where do I buy locks from? And can they be unlocked? TIA :)
You can purchase them at any major pin location in WDW that sells pins. For example Disney's Pin Traders at Downtown Disney is a place that would sell them. If you want them before arriving to WDW I assume Harley Davidson stores still sell them, because I got some there a few years ago.

They can also be unlocked off your pins if you wish to change some on your lanyard, however be careful not to unlock the same pins all the time because it could bend the backing part of the pin.

Thanks, DD's don't have many pins yet and love to trade the few they've got but I'm still worried they'll lose them!

Having just entered my MIL's pins from her lanyard onto pinpics, I have to say YIKES!!! All of her pins are locked (as stated in my previous post) and her lanyard weighs a TON!!! I would not want to have that around my neck! I would definitely pick what I couldn't bear to lose and lock them and leave the rest.
