I have already booked stvs but just looked at the sample video. The sample video was a dvd-r . Was you wedding video a dvd or a dvd-r ? I have had bad expereiences with dvd-r 's not holding up. Thanks for any information you can give me !
Ours was a DVD-R. Granted, we got married in March 2002, so Stan may have upgraded since then. Just to clarify, you're asking if it was a recordable DVD like you would use in your computer, not between -R or +R, right?
Would someone mind giving me an education about this? I really don't know what you're talking about! I didn't realize that there was a difference between normal DVD's and DVD's you use in your computer. Wouldn't they all need to be recordable at one point or another in order to get anyhthing on them? I learn something new on this board everyday! Thanks!
Pretty much the jist is : DVD's have three layers the third is a protective cover. DVD R's have only two (no protective cover)and the bottom of the DVD has a color ( yellow , green , blue) this color is ink and it is notorious for chipping off and can chip off to the point it destroys the data on the DVD.Also some DVD players and Computers will not read DVD R's
OK...thanks for the explanation. I don't think I've ever seen these DVD-R's before...all the recordable DVD's that I buy don't have a color on the bottom. Thanks!
Basically, it's much more expensive to do a real pressing of DVDs as opposed to burning them off on a computer. Plus, you usually have to do them with a minimum quantity because of the cost of the equipment involved and the cost of making the master DVD. I asked my husband about this, and he highly doubted that Stan (or any other videographer making DVDs) has the equipment to be making real DVDs like you'd buy at the video store.
