If you think DVC amenities sometimes are lacking...

DH just checked in to a resort that operates as both a timeshare membership, and also as a hotel (offering per night). He has a stove, but no pots and pans. He has a coffee maker, but you know how some of us complain about styrofoam cups? No styrofoam, ceramic, nothing. Downstairs in the lobby is coffee, with plastic cups (the almost clear ones like they have in bathrooms. Nice table for 6, with chairs, but no plates, bowls, or silverware, not paper, plastic, nothing. A dishwasher, but no dish detergent. At least he got sheets on his bed! Otherwise all members are expected to supply their own things.

And he's staying there on purpose? :)

Thanks for sharing and adding a little perspective.

I've stayed in a lot of timeshares not named DVC--including one just outside the Western RMNP Gate that was, shall we say, "colorful". (There was a tattoo artist in residence.)

I have never, not once, experienced anything like that. Ever.

I'm sure it was awful, but I have to believe it is at the far end of what most places look like! (I'm also curious where it was, because I definitely want to avoid it!)

And with all the due respect in the world, that is probably exactly the way that timeshare operates and is understood to be. DVC is not operated that way, nor is it marketed and sold that way.

DVC is kind of a timeshare-hotel hybrid, what with housekeeping services (even just Trash & Towel on day 4), Bell Services, and provision of certain supplies. I've never stayed in a TS that didn't stock cups, dishes, cookware, etc., however.

That's what he was told?

My mom and stepdad owned a weird timeshare/condo thing in the Adirondacks that was literally their vacation home when they were there, but the office rented it out as a timeshare/condo for when they weren't, but they still provided cups and plates and such.
