Would it be a key card that would instead open your room door/scan for entry to parks/scan for Genie+? I cant for the life of me recall what we did before magic bands..

And if you have old ones they can be reused correct? As in from last year. And what is that process, just bring them to check in and they activate them?

Yes they can be reused. If you use the same account they should be active already unless you deactivated them.

Yes, you can reuse old magic bands, as long as the same people are using them. The magic bands should already be in your account and connected to you/your family/friends and will automatically work for any new trips.

Open your MDE account, click on My Magic Bands and Cards, and make sure the bands you plan to bring are listed (look at the number on the back) and shown as Active. If they’ve been Deactivated, just tap to Activate them. They’re ready to go! But if you have trouble doing that, the resort front desk will be happy to help. Just remember, once a MB has been assigned to an individual in MDE, it can’t be reassigned to someone else.

We were able to open our door with a phone and our magic bands that are about 3 years old.

Remember that if you use old magic bands there’s one part that might not work which is when you’re on the rides that take photos - they may not link to your photo account automatically so we make sure to find our photo after the ride on the screens and link it to our band by scanning our band to the screen.

OP - are you asking about re-using an old KTTW card or a MagicBand? I suppose old KTTW cards can be re-used as well. Check your MDE to see if it’s listed. But you can just get a new one at the front desk if you’d prefer.

Anything you have to tap with the band will work indefinitely, even when the battery in the band is dead.

Some of the newer rides (like 7DMT) don't have anywhere to tap so you would need either a newer band or a phone with Bluetooth enabled for the app.

Magic mobile worked great without the magic band. You don’t have to open your phone or anything, just scan at entrance to parks and LL. Going into the app to open the room door was a little more of a pain, so we just used room keys for that. Not that it was hard but you know the app, sometimes would take a while to load. So one of us just carried a key card to get in.

With respect to 7DMT, is this to get on the ride? Or you are specifically talking about the photo/video part of the ride?
