No. But I have had some fun with text messages I get by mistake. Last year while on vacation with bunch of family we were playing cards when I got a text from someone I didn't know. We spent the next 2 hours messing with them. It was lots of fun.

I don't call back either but I do admit to texting back someone I didn't know. It was pretty funny!

No, unless it's a family member or someone I was expecting a call from. We get calls at work. I say
"Good morning ......." They say "Someone from this number called me" I say "do you know who?" They say "no" I say "well do you know anyone who works for ......" They say "no". Me: "Do you need help with this or that?" "no" I say "I'm sorry I can't help you"

Nea, if they don't leave a message I figure it isn't that important. I had a real funny (in a bad way) message the other day though for a wrong #..it went like, Hi, we are trying to reach "such and such" if this isn't "such and such" please hang up now...then they proceeded to detail all about the poor guys recent medical tests (and can I say I feel for him). I think THAT Drs office needs another lesson on HIPPA!! If you aren't sure of the number then DON"T leave that kind of message, simply req a call back for goodness sake. The only reason I didn't hang up was I had it on speaker while I was brushing my teeth lol..

I got several or those about a month ago. It wasn't a name of anyone in my house, or anyone I knew. I hung up the first and second time. By the third time, I went ahead and listened to the message. It was a bill collector. They didn't give details about the issue, just the number to call back. I called to let them know they had the wrong number. The tried to criticize me for listening to the message. They also tried to make the assumption that I was lying to them. I just hung up, and never received another call

I did this one time w/ a cell I had that had belonged to someone else. It was a work cell, and he held my position before me. I knew him and he was quite a tool...married man with a girlfriend or 2. A woman called me about midnight and asked for him. I told her he was in the shower, and then proceeded to yell for him--"honey you have a call" and then told her he would call her back. She called many times and I always answered. This went on for a few weeks.

:lmao:

a missed call on your phone from a number you don't know, do you call it back?

eta: If no message was left......

I don't, but my dh often does, which it just completely weird to me. I can't tell you how many times I hear him on the phone saying "yeah, I got a call from this number..." It's just so bizzare to me. I mean if the person calling meant to call you and wanted you to call them back, they'd leave a message. I feel like he's stalking them:rotfl: I also get really annoyed when I get a call at work or on my cell and someone says "yeah I got a call from this number." And....:confused3

I sometimes answer phones for a building that contains both a church and a school. ANY outgoing line, rings back to the main switchboard.

People do this ALL THE TIME- and most of the time, the caller left a message and the person calling back couldn't be bothered to take the time to listen to it and find out who called them. They are then baffled when I can't tell them which of the 150-plus potential people in the building called them- and some of them just CAN'T let it go..."Well, they just called me. Was it so and so? was it so and so....? It only rang once!"

The ones I hate are when they call from a toll free number, if I am in a meeting or other place where I can not answer, I have it on silent and it goes to the voicemail, they leave some stupid message like, I'll call back" with no name or business info.

yeah you might be blocked if you try and call back!!

Nope. I figure if it's a family member or something really important, they'd either leave a message or keep calling.

No, my cell phone is my back-up and very few people know it. If someone calls it by mistake, I just delete the number from the Missed Calls log, or delete the voice message unheard.

Only if it is a local call. My kids will sometimes borrow another phone if their's is dead or something and with dh on the road, I never know if another driver or someone from his company may call in an emergency. Even though I have voice mail, I would be concerned that someone may not have let it ring enough to go to voice mail.

nope...

I figure that if its important (car broke down, family emergency, and so forth, they WILL leave a message)

if it wasn't important enough to leave a message, then its not important enough for me to call back.

I feel the same way-- if it's that important they'll call back or leave a message.

If I'm around my computer, I'll do a reverse lookup.

I always do a reverse number look up.

If no voicemail is left, I don't call back. If the number repeatedly calls, at some point I'll answer and find out what the heck is going on (because if can they take the time to call multiple times, then why can't they leave a voicemail?). If the person calls and leaves a voicemail and it does turn out to be the wrong number, usually I'll call and let them know that so-and-so's number has changed (though they really should have guessed that by listening to the voicemail greeting...).

I've also received texts intended for someone else. I just respond and let them know that the number belongs to someone else now.

No way! I don't even want to talk on the phone to people I know and like let alone a stranger. :lmao:

My sister is crazy about it. She will return every call on her caller ID and will act suspicious about it. I feel sorry for the ones who just dialed the wrong number. Sheesh!

No, I don't call back but I sometimes will do a reverse number look up. I figure if they needed to talk to us, they would have left a message or they will call back otherwise I assume it is a wrong number.

nope...

I figure that if its important (car broke down, family emergency, and so forth, they WILL leave a message)

if it wasn't important enough to leave a message, then its not important enough for me to call back.

That. Exactly.

If I don't recognize the number, I check to see if they left a voice message. If not, I erase the number. If it was something important they will either call back or leave a message.

I did have someone call me back when I left a message for the parent of one of my students. I actually left a voice message but the secretary had written the number wrong. The lady called me back and said she was sure the parent would want to know that I called. I thought that was very nice of her. :)

I Google it first. If it doesn't come up anywhere I will usually call it back but not from my cell phone but from Google Voice. That way just in case it is some solicitor that hasn't make it onto any lists yet they don't know my number is a valid one.

Exactly!

I did this once and never will again. It was a lawyer's office so I called them back to let them know they had the wrong number. OMG! I was grilled like I was a criminal. They wanted my name, my number, address, etc. I just kept repeating that the message they left for so and so was left at the wrong number. Geez. Never again!!! I ended up hanging up and them because it was like a dog with a bone at the other end and just wouldn't let up. :headache:  :sad2:

That happened with my youngest son on his cell phone. He's 12. He was getting remind phone calls from H&R Block in Virginia, we're in Indiana. He called to tell them they had the wrong number and he's only 12 and they asked him all this info.

This happened to someone I know. He did a three way with 911. When the police answered "911" he said I would like to report a harrassment phone call and the party is on the line. That ended that.

a missed call on your phone from a number you don't know, do you call it back?

eta: If no message was left......

LOL No way. I have too many other things to do that matter.

I always assume that it was either a wrong number (we get lots, our phone number is one digit off from a popular doctor in town) or a telemarketer of some sort.
