I noticed that. Beyond a watch and the occasional pair of earrings I am not a jewelry person but from time to time I will look at the Pandora bracelets or a birthstone ring and just shake my head.

Sorry - should have read "Costco sells lots of top-grade items". When I was thinking of getting a fancy watch, many of the stores were offering 35% off. I understand that many won't go further because it gets back to the manufacturer, which may decide to discontinue distributing to such stores.

I'd rather have my ring purchased from a local jeweler. I like to support local businesses. There are just so many benefits, that it would be really hard for me to want an expensive ring from a big box retailer.

Offended? I'd be impressed!! I'd say he's got impeccable taste. Costco is very, very picky about what they sell. I've seen documentaries on them and they only sell top quality merchandise. I've been a loyal customer since 2001.
