So, after a particularly stressful day of work :badpc: (on top of the home building and my sister's upcoming wedding), I need a break. I was thinking that if I could own any type of business that I would want to own a scrapbook store. :flower:

So, I was wondering, just for fun, if you opened a scrapbook supply store, what would you name it? What would be different about your store from the others that are out there?

I'll go first...

Name: Preserve it!

Unique factor: I would have a computer station where shoppers could scan and save page layouts to send in to magazines. Also, I would have a friend create a line of scrapbook papers, so my store would be the only one in the area to carry paper by a "local artist."

Now, what about you...

This is sooo funny - I just read a mystery where the key player owns a scrapbook store...lots of references to scrapping in it.

Anyway it must have been in my head because I dreamed I opened a store and named it Scrap Happens! Not sure that is an appropriate name for a scrapbook store but that is what I did in my dream!

I have dreamed of doing this some day - Mine would be named Robbins' Nest of Scraps

ScrapCandy.com! :flower: We try to find the extra "goodies" that make your pages special! After seeing the amount of time that the online biz, takes, I now know that I never, ever want a brick and mortar store!!! I used to think it sounded like such a great idea! There are days when I don't have time to eat (and I looooove to eat!). But it sure is fun to dream and it sure is fun to be surrounded by pretty, pretty supplies all day!

I love hearing the names you are all coming up with! Great ideas!

oooooh good post Megan!

I have a zillion names in my head - none of them really click though-
Paper Heaven
Scrapaholics
Scrap That!
Scrappers Playground

I CAN tell you that I would set up a 'daycare room' with those one way windows in it - so mom's can see through as the kids play with hired high school kids and mom's scrap away at schedualed crops!

I would definately do the computer thing with a printer to print out journalling.

I would also have a 'Coffe shop' area where you can get munchies and coffee and flip through magazines, etc in bug comfy chairs!

What was the name of the mystery? That might be a good read while sitting at ds football practices.

Scrap Paradise would be my name. :flower:

No clever names are coming to me.
I would 2nd having the "daycare room". I think having a supervised one would greatly increase who and when people could attend crops. I for one know I have to check DH's schedule 1st before I can commit to going to the crops and such.

I would also have a "photo shop" area. Where people could get their pictures printed/edited, have classes in photography in the different formats out there, etc. I know alot of people who scrapbook that could use some guidance in their picture taking skills (myself, for one) and what better place to learn. It also would bring in a whole different set of clients who just may discover scrapbooking!!!

I actually do own a scrapbook store!!!!!

The name of it is Just Scrap It! - you wouldn't believe how many men call wanting to know how much I am paying for aluminum and steel, lol!!!

It is rewarding to own your own business, be your own boss, but I tell you, I put in lots of hours and LOTS of hard work. Alot of my family time is sacraficed too, so it can get tough at times, but all in all, I LOVE IT!!!!!

Some of my features would be a coffee area, where you can sit and talk scrappin' with girlfriends. Big comfy chairs, lots of idea books to browse for free.....ideas mean product needed....:)

3rd the day care idea....

Daytime crop time for Moms of school age children

Contests for lay outs.

Soft music, good lighting (for color selection)..some sort of cute set up for buttons and stickers....like I saw a store once that had everything in little stainless steel buckets....cute!

Shopping baskets that fit 12x12 paper so it isn't bent while your shopping.

A cropping room that is free to use anytime day or night as long as there are no classes scheduled. Lots of tables, really good lighting.

Name" Little Red Wagon"

This is a great thread. Once again the posters have proven to be creative and imaginitive people!! :goodvibes I have not great ideas for a scrap store altho I like the idea of having the bigger baskets to hold the 12 x 12 paper. That;s a GREAT idea! A LSS about an hour north of here has named her scrapbook store Scrappuccino. I thought that was a very clever name!!

Thanks for starting a great thread.

Karen

Mine would be called "Scrap Happy" and I love the idea of a crop room open all the time for free. I know I would love to be able to go to the local scrapbook store and scrap anytime I wanted. Plus, the store would make a lot off me because of things I "needed" for the layouts I was working on!

Hmmm gosh I am sorry - its a book my husband picked up at the library -- he said he will look it up next time he is at the library and I will post it then.
