Please advise if we should still consider joining DVC if we may move to Orlando, FL in the next 6 months? Would this not make sense then? My husband is looking at transfers to either Orlando or Jacksonville, and we don't know where we may end up at this time. Currently we live in LA and want to join this weekend, before the Feb 1st cutoff, to take advantage of the great deal they have for SSR, but don't want to commit if this is would be a bad move should we end up in O-town instead of Jacksonville.....

What do ya'll think????????

Thanks in advance for your advice!

We've been memebrs of Old Key West since 1992. We bought it when we lived in London, England (I'm Anerican) and used it regularly. We now live in Celebration which is just outside of Disney property. All of our kids insisted that we keep our vacation club membership when we moved. We continue to use our membership but we use it in different ways. We stay at OKW occasionally and use it for guests but now we focus more on exchanges. Hope this helps. Good luck with your decision.

We met a couple on the Disney cruise once that lived in Orlando (one was even an accountant for Disney) and owned DVC. The said that they used it alot during the special events, and took friends with them. I guess the question is whether you would still want to stay at WDW for visits, even though you only live a few minutes away.

I have thought of this as someone who would like to live in Fla-would I still need my DVC?

I think Yes. I would enjoy a weekend at a beautiful resort without haveing to travel far-I would have my DVC. I couldalso go to Vero or Hilton Head and stay at a beautiful 1 or 2 br, not a hotel.
Why DVC instead of timeshare?-because I can use it for any number of days-timeshares for the most part are still weekly.

I would also use the DVC points to exchange for Concierge hotels.

Start off small-if you don't use it enough rent or sell your points.

I would say to stay with your idea since it is speculation where you will end up. If in Jacksonville, you still are 3 hrs away. That would constitute a vacation for me, the distance that is. But if in Orlando, you can use it for quick weekend getaways. And if that doesnt all work out, you can always resell, and probably make money from the 15% you saved.

Pixie Dust and Luck with your decision
