If you like [WDW ride], you'll love___?

Thanks for the Matterhorn warning. I wanted to try it because it's a classic, but I will save my back and neck! If anyone has been to Universal, would you say Screamin' is closer to Rip Ride Rockit (killed my neck) or Dragon Challenge (loved it). I've never been on RnRc...a long story of bad timing.

We're actually looking at summer 2016, before driving up to Yosemite, but I really need a little Disney dreaming in my life right now. :goodvibes

Screamin is much much smoother than Rip Ride... closer to dragons--pretty smooth coaster!

Not really. You can try to have someone hold the steering wheel to prevent it from turning as much as possible, but the cars will still spin. My cousin tried his hardest to prevent the car from spinning, but he couldn't and we still ended up spinning a fair amount. If you get motion sick from spinning rides, I'd think long about going on this one. I think it's cute, but I can't handle spinning rides, so it's out (along with the Tea Cups and Mater's Junkyard Jamboree).

Mr. Toad isn't wild in the sense that it's a thrill ride. It's "wild" because Mr. Toad isn't the best driver in the world and takes his automobile some places where he shouldn't. It's no more or less a "thrill" ride than Snow White or Pinocchio. I think if "thrill" rides (like Space Mtn) are what you are trying to avoid, then the dark rides should be fine. Most are fairly tame, although they can have some pretty sharp turns, but nothing like a roller coaster. They are no physically intense.

IMO you can keep the car from spinning too much on RR. You have to hold steering wheel very tight though. Also, I don't think the RR and Mater's are in the same league as the Tea Cups as far as the spinning goes. I've never been affected by those 2 rides like I am on the Tea Cups.

Agreed!

I was so used to the cars in Disneyland that when I went to MK with my Mom, I was so annoyed by the fact that the guns didn't detach that I lost to my Mom! At least that's what I say to console myself. Embarrassing!

totally! :lmao:

i almost lost to my nephew (5yr old) because i wasnt ready for it!

no doubt this been asked elsewhere but I just got uber curious who prefers DL ToT to WDW.

I've never been able to decide myself (classicly indecisive with these types of things!)

I appreciate all the info and advice. I'm so looking forward to Fantasyland. We are all dark ride addicts. DD and I miss pretending to be scared on Snow White, and she could not believe it when I told her about Alice. :rotfl2: Thanks for mentioning Roger Rabbit ...I hadn't noticed that was a dark ride. Now that I've looked it up, I have to ask if we can stop it from spinning too much? I can tell DS that since he was able to handle the movement of Dinosaur, he'll be able to enjoy Indiana Jones. :cool1: He also loves Fantasmic, so we'll have to make time for that. It's hard being a teenage boy who can't ride coasters. I will let him see how he feels for RSR and warn him Pirates is a little different. Will he be fine with all the regular dark rides? He'll want me to reassure him that Mr. Toad isn't that wild. Would he like the flying tires if he's killing time alone in Carsland? Thanks for the Matterhorn warning. If he can handle dinosaur he can definitely handle Indy. I find it less jerky and way less scary. My head always hurts when I come off Dinosaur.

Flying tires is fun and you can watch it going so he an get an idea of what it is like. It's kinda like a smoother tame bumper cars.

I would say avoid Goofys Sky School if you have made back issues. It is really rough. I find it one of the more rough rides on property right up there with Matterhorn.

Innoventions right now has Avengers stuff so if that is still there your son might like that.

RSR has a couple bounces in the race part that can get your stomach a little butterfly action. But the inside portion is AMAZING and the ride is really smooth.

Mr Toads has a couple turns that are over 90 degrees so that's a little Wild but as others have said the wildest part is his driving.

Also if you like dark rides Monsters Inc is a cute ride.

The only thing I like better about the DCA ToT is the outside. I thought the building looks better in DCA. Otherwise, the ride itself is much better at WDW.

I heard that the drop sequence on ToT at WDW is randomized, but at DLR it is not. I actually like that because I'm a little freaked out about the ride. So I think it feels just a bit milder at DLR. That works for me, but I can see that it really would not work for others.

Your going to LOVE Disneyland! It's the original and still best Disney park. I still get goosebumps when I walk down Mainstreet knowing the Walt lived (acutally) and breathed, and worked there. Pay no never mind about the Castle references. It fits perfectly into the storybook feel of the park. Who would want the castle bigger than the Matterhorn Mountain?
Like many others have stated Fantasyland is amazing for ride count and proximity to each other. Don't forget about outside Fantasyland rides like Casey JR and Storybook Canal Ride which is a can't miss for us!

Not sure why the one poster didn't like Buzz as you can hold the guns better and it has an entire extra showroom!

I don't think Matterhorn is that bad. Just have to remember its the first steel tubular rollercoaster and has a lot of history to it. Gotta try it. It just sits low to the ground so you can feel every movement but its not horrible. Great views from the top as your go around the hills. Their are two sides to it and generally the Fantasyland side is tamer, somewhat.

Don't miss Mickey and the Magical Map (neat little show).
Get the Plaza Inn Chicken dinner and treat yourself to a wonderful family meal.

I believe that the parades, fireworks, and Fantasmic! are all better at DL. Gotta see the original Tiki Room as well.

Have a blast! I like that your hitting Yosemite as well. We did that trip a few years ago. Yosemite is amazing. What time of year are you thinking about going?

I am a WDW vet, but I have to say I love DLR so much better now. Over the few years I started coming to DLR my love for it has grown so much. One of the things I love is the difference between the character interactions. At DLR, you never know what character is going to walk up behind you and tap you on the shoulder.:lovestruc IMHO, DLR is much more intimate and warm.

I can't give an opinion on ToT because I rode it once at WDW, and refused to ever get on it again. So for my two cents, POTC, IASW, and HM are better at DLR. Hands down Indy is better versus Dinosaur. GRR is better than KRR. Hard to compare Screamin to RnR. RnR, to me is better because of the darkness and the Aerosmith factor.

Even though I am an East Coaster that grew up on WDW, I am now totally a DLR convert.:worship: Oh, I forgot, I have to give DLR the edge for Christmastime offerings.

I didn't see anyone mention Nemo's Submarine Voyage. It's just a bit like the Nemo ride at Epcot but in a sub and so much more authentic!! You have to try it.

:thumbsup2

It's not that exciting, but it's very charming and nostalgic. Do it early in the day if possible though because that line moves like molasses.

I like the Nemo subs and I also liked the Nemo ride at WDW. I liked the queue theme, riding in the shells, the song at the end, and Peach stuck to the window saying "Take me with you! This song is cute and all but it NEVER ends!" :rotfl:
I also like the big aquarium tanks to look at. We went there several times. I guess they call that whole area The Seas. I thought that was a neat area.

As for F!, the one at WDW is just sad.

The oldest will be in high school and can't miss class, so it will have to be summer, sometime between the second week in June and mid-August. DH would like to see the sequoias also, but fortunately we should be able to take off two weeks and save money by staying in tent cabins at Yosemite and Sequoia and using Visa rewards at DLR. Because we have to travel during the busy summer, we'll probably stay onsite and take advantage of early hours. Coming from a different time zone, being at the gate at 6:30 a.m. will be no problem.

I was wondering about Nemo subs. I heard the lines are slow, but we'll hopefully have two mornings at DLR and I have fond memories of 20,000 Leagues at WDW.

If ToT feels milder, maybe I can get DD on it. She made the mistake of riding as soon as she reached the height requirement and never went near it again, not because of the drops but because it "freaked her out."
