...then come to Kings Island (amusement park) in Cincinnati, OH! You'll be in seventh heaven!

I couldn't believe how much the prices had gone up!
$3.39 for a 20 oz fountain beverage (Diet Coke, etc)
$3.59 for the 32 oz version
Roughly $3 (don't remember exactly) for an order of french fries, large serving but only size available.

DW spent over $30 for herself and two boys for mediocre counter service.
I spent $10 at a new Chinese counter service ("Panda Express"). I've had better Chinese food at airports for less money. I was going to get beef and broccoli but changed my mind when I looked at it. :sad2:

$40 is roughly what we spend at Beaches & Cream at WDW where the food is much, much better, and certain TS lunches with DDE discount are not much more. CS lunches are under $40 and higher quality.

Moral: We've really got it pretty good at WDW.

I've always thought that the food prices (counter service) at Disney was far more reasonable than what I pay at King's Dominion in Virginia. The prices are outrageous there. Same at Six Flags in Maryland.

Plus when I spending that money at WDW I'm at WDW! Worth it right there. :)

How about the prices at sports games

$4 for a soda
$4 for a water (16oz)
$4 for a snack size bag of candy
$7 or 8 for a personal sized pizza
$8-10 for a beer and the have the nerve to serve it in a plastic bottle

As I always point out, though, those places are pretty much one day venues. They nickel and dime you because they won't see you the next day.

WDW sees many visitors for multiple days. Many people actually LIVE on WDW food for the duration of their trips. I believe that alone should be a reason that their standards should be higher and their prices lower than a ball park or amusement park venue.

Sounds like a big increase from our last trip to PKI.

Some what a good point BUT take my sports games example, we have season tickets and therefore we attended numerous games a year and you can't even bring in outside food.

Of course I don't spend an entire day at each game, just what seems like the entire day.

I wish I lived on WDW food :cloud9:

:thumbsup2 I'd never been to WDW until 04. Before that, it was only King's Island--the park closest to us. First trip was '76 and been back 5-6 times over the years. I've just become accustomed over the years to paying exorbitant amounts for the type of food you could expect at a county fair. I certainly did not mind paying what we pay at WDW because it was either the same or cheaper than what we paid at King's Island and the quality of the food and the dining area was so much better.

I realize the folks who visited WDW back in the "good ol' days" say dining has declined at WDW, but to me it's much better than I was ever used to. I guess it's a matter of perspective.

ITA!! The food at WDW is WONDERFUL compared to Six Flags. I really don't think people have any reason to complain. :wizard:

I think that we can thank the Cedar Fair group for this one. It's crazy what they charge. Is it a fun place to go to? Sure? Is it worth and arm and a leg to get in and then to eat. Nope. We dropped our Annual Pass here because the food costs were just too much for us and now they have gone up even more.

Sounds like you should come to Holiday World. Free unlimited soft drinks and good, cheap food. The 4 of us can eat dinner for under $18. :cool1:

I've always thought Disney world was pretty comparable to other vacation venues, maybe because I live on the East coast where every thing is higher.
Six flags- great adventure. forget it. Your dropping $70.00 easy for a family of 4 for lunch.
Philadelphia Phillies.
$5.50 for a cup of very watery beer. $2.50 for a bottle of coke $3.50 for a soft serve ice cream cone.

Don't know where Holiday world is but it may be the last place in the country where 4 can eat for $18.00. A big mac meal in NJ is $5.69 each

Outdoor stadiums, baseball and football, normally allow outside food. You're usually not allowed to bring in coolers, cans, glass bottles or adult beverages. Plastic bottles are generally allowed.

Yankee stadium gives out clear plastic bags. That makes it easier for security to verify patrons aren't entering with "contraband".

Giant stadium also allows customers to enter with chips, sandwiches etc.

One of the baseball teams down South, I think Atlanta, tried to ban outside food. The rule was repealed due to customer outrage.

BTW Disney allows guests to bring coolers into the water parks and allows guests to bring snack type food into the theme parks.

Just want to mention I am not trying to run down Kings Island. Overall it's a very nice regional park with an included 30-acre water park and award-winning children's area. And Cedar Fair has put some money into it to improve it further.

But I DID want to point out that in the realm of theme park food, WDW is as good as it gets.

We went to Kings Island last year and the service was horrible. It's bad enough spending that type of money but can we at least get a thank you from the employees. How is WDW service?

I thought the food at Hershey Park was more expensive than WDW. I was really surprised at Hershey's prices and I believe WDW prices are more reasonable than some other parks.

Anyone try to buy airport food lately? You'll be shocked at the high prices, low quality.

One slice of Papa John's Pizza is $6.75 at Six Flags! I about fell over.

Holiday World, however, has fabulous prices for food.

I was surprised at our movie theater $3 for a 20 oz soda. I realize it's about the same as Disney but lets face it, it's better to pay that at DISNEY! :goodvibes

I hear that! I take my niece to Six Flags New England and paid $23.00 for lunch alone. It was also the worst food I have ever eaten. They also don't let you bring any food into the park. Parking is $15.00. I stay on sight but I think Disney only costs $10.00.
