Thanks T&B. I'll confess that I'm not sure I have always spelled separate correctly. I used to be so good at spelling, but with age... Definitely was one that just really stood out to me. I wouldn't for a minute criticize someone who misspelled fluorescent The issue of there/their/they're is a bit irritating though.

Sometimes I'm put down the wrong word when I know the correct one. Forget an o in too, etc. So I will assume that's what others are doing, too, unless I see it a lot (that's one of my pet peeves--it's not one word: alot, but only because it was drilled into my head in high school many moons ago).

One funny story--a couple of years ago in an e-mail my sister was ribbing either me or our other sister about a typo, but when she typed it she made a typo and typed the word as "tyro", which is now of course what my sisters and I call it. Be careful how much you give people a bad time because then they will watch your writing and pick it apart!

The thing that bothers me is if people go on threads for tv shows or something like that and spell the characters' names wrong. But oh well, I just recently remembered how to spell "opportunity"

This is a huge pet peeve of mine! I usually count the first mistake in a post as a typo, but when the same word is spelled or used incorrectly throughout the post, it makes me crazy!

The one that REALLY makes me NUTS is when people post (right in the title!) looking for ADVISE instead of ADVICE!

That word stumps me every time I go to use it in a sentence.My problem is I can never remember wether to put an 'e' after the 't' or not! I think 50% of the time I spell it one way and half the time I spell it the other way!

I'm a dumb hick too! (or should I say "a dumb hick to?") I don't proof read as I write on the DIS. The only time poor spelling bothers me here is in a thread title. I always wonder why people don't go in and edit those when they figure out they spelled a word incorrectly - only because they are so visible.
